Footprints Across Africa: The 4 letter word (most) North American's shy away from

http://lisadalimonte.blogspot.com/2012/05/4-letter-word-most-north-americans-shy.html

View my complete profile. Thursday, May 10, 2012. The 4 letter word (most) North American's shy away from. POOP That's right, I said it! It's so true that most North American's shy away from talking about poop, why is that? While I still haven't discovered the answer, what I have found out is that when you live and work overseas the poop "shyness" disappears! Anyway, enough of the talk, here is the graphic on poop that I was given. Enjoy and most importantly.DISCUSS :). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Footprints Across Africa: Sachets of Things!

http://lisadalimonte.blogspot.com/2012/03/sachets-of-things.html

View my complete profile. Wednesday, March 7, 2012. One of many things that I love about Ghana is the ability to purchase certain items from any given location. Another favourite sachet option is your choice of liquor in a sachet. I like to opt for sachets of gin which can be purchased for 50 pesewas each (about 40 cents) and mixed with a cold coke or sprite from a bottle. This is my favourite option aside from Ghana's popular beer, Star. Coffee, Tea and Milo:. March 7, 2012 at 6:42 PM. Part 4 - Namibia.

Footprints Across Africa: Oil in Takoradi

http://lisadalimonte.blogspot.com/2012/03/oil-in-takoradi.html

View my complete profile. Monday, March 19, 2012. After a long bus ride to the Western Region, I arrived in the capital city of Takoradi later in the evening on Thursday. It was really nice to visit Takoradi again for a few reasons, namely that I have not been back since I spent my first 5 weeks in Ghana in October, 2010 but also, to see the improvements in the city since the oil find. Since the latter part of 2010, Ghana joined the ranks of one Africa's oil producing countries: Friend or Foe? Me with so...

View my complete profile. Thursday, May 3, 2012. Things I Take for Granted. But the truth is, using a microwave didn't even cross my mind! So here is the start of my list of "Things I Take for Granted" :. The use of a microwave. The use of a washing machine and a dryer (to reshape your clothes! Using tap water as drinking water. No power cuts to save energy. The TTC, OC Transpo or other forms of public transportation in Canada that I have previously bashed! The ability to walk alone, even at night. India...

Sabrina Heads East....Again: May 2011

http://sabrinaintanzania.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Sabrina Heads East.Again. Thursday, May 5, 2011. So, it’s been a while since my last blog post and it’s crazy that I’m writing this at the end of my 7. Sometimes it feels like I`ve been here ages, and other times it feels like we arrived on the ferry just yesterday. It`s funny how quickly a place can become home. I often forget that I`m living in a tropical paradise, although I now completely understand the concept of `island fever`. Waiting out the rain. On the shore in Stone Town. Some of them may even...

Sabrina Heads East....Again: Introduction

http://sabrinaintanzania.blogspot.com/2011/04/introduction.html

Sabrina Heads East.Again. Friday, April 8, 2011. Well, I’m officially back in the world of blogging! I’ve once again returned to Tanzania, only this time to Zanzibar, for a 7 month internship (March 21. 2011) through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), Youth Challenge International (YCI), and Family Planning Tanzania (UMATI). UMATI is a non-profit NGO that provides sexual and reproductive health (SRH) education, services, and resources in 18 locations throughout Tanzania. Within each of...

Sabrina Heads East....Again: Sexual Health Education through Song, Dance and Theatre

http://sabrinaintanzania.blogspot.com/2011/07/sexual-health-education-through-song.html

Sabrina Heads East.Again. Wednesday, July 6, 2011. Sexual Health Education through Song, Dance and Theatre. This blog was originally written for and posted at. Over the past two months I’ve been fortunate enough to attend several community events and education sessions through UMATI’s current project “Daraja”. A large focus of the project is encouraging youth- parent communication as a means to increase awareness surrounding SRH issues and to reduce to the likelihood of risky sexual behaviour among youth.

Sabrina Heads East.Again. Monday, August 15, 2011. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the month of July. Enjoy! Red Colobus Monkeys in Jozani Forest. Cheryl and I with a VERY old Tortoise. Low Tide at Jambiani. Me on Prison Island. View from Prison Island. Innovation at Its Best. I often see little ones running around with toy trucks they’ve made from plastic bottles or cardboard, using water bottle caps as the wheels. Take a look at the pictures below! Sabrina Heads East....Again: September 2011

http://sabrinaintanzania.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Sabrina Heads East.Again. Tuesday, September 20, 2011. Renovations and Family Planning. This blog was originally written for and posted at ". As a sit in my dark room, the electricity out again, I’m trying to make a plan for my remaining 5 weeks in Zanzibar. It seems crazy that I have so little time left of my 7 month internship with YCI and UMATI. To be honest, a part of me feels as though I’m just getting started. At a time when I should be wrapping things up I’m nose deep with work to do. The renovati...

Where in the World is Larissa! So I'm off on another adventure again. This time to Tanzania as a CIDA Intern with Youth Challenge International! Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Day 4- Kungwe Village (May 7, 2011). After the same morning routine in the homestay and waiting for the Ward Officer to join us for our meeting we finally left and went straight to Kungwe Village to perform our needs assessment! This was the first time going to Kungwe and I had no clue what to expect. After waiting a bit for more p...
