Lisa Fiore Art: January 2014

Monday, January 20, 2014. Waiting for the Boy. I love the play of light and shadows that hit our piano in the afternoon. The end of 2013 was a jumble of activity, with little time for painting. I'm really hoping to find more time at the easel in the the coming weeks and months. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Pricing List for Commissioned Paintings. I'll work from your favorite photos or, if you prefer and are local, will take my own reference photos. 8x10 (matted in a 11x14 frame) $175. Waiting for the Boy.

Tuesday, October 16, 2012. April in St. Augustine. I love St. Augustine. I'm not a fan of painting buildings, though! This painting definitely presented a few challenges. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). First Coast Pastel Society: June 2014

First Coast Pastel Society. Saturday, June 7, 2014. A Super Day at Princess Place. I had my doubts about Princess Place when I woke up at 3 AM, and the rain was teeming down, and lighting was flashing across the sky, and the thunder was booming. I assumed that at best Princess Place might be a soggy mess. But no indeed, it was wonderful there! We had quite a nice turnout for the day too, as eleven of us gathered in the parking lot to meet up for the morning. Or facing the river. After lunch folks brought...

First Coast Pastel Society. Monday, June 8, 2015. It was a sultry day on Saturday when we met for our last get-together before the fall, with temperatures hitting 90 by the time we broke after our picnic lunch. Many of our members were also out in New Mexico also, but we still had seven stalwarts who showed up to paint and share a meal. It made a nice gathering place also when it was time to put the pastels down and have lunch. It was the sort of day where you really needed to stay hydrated. Saturday, Jun...

First Coast Pastel Society. Monday, March 30, 2015. Spring Park plein air. Spring Park, Green Cove Springs. April 4, 2015, 9 AM to 1 PM. The venue chosen was Spring Park in Green Cove Springs, and we had about a dozen enthusiastic pastelists show up and paint. It was a wonderful day, and such a lovely place to paint that it seemed high time to go back there again now that we are formally a society with many more members. Lots of birds too if you want to capture some wildlife in your paintings. Below ...

First Coast Pastel Society. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. Juried Member Show - Awards and Reception (Part Three) - all the paintings. But I just take it as a sign that you really need to get yourself over to the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach and see the show in person. Alas for working folks they are not normally open nights and weekends. However their doors will be open this Saturday because we have our FCPS general meeting there this coming weekend. Stop in and see the show! Kay Deuben - " Solitude.
First Coast Pastel Society: July 2014

First Coast Pastel Society. Tuesday, July 15, 2014. Friday Night at the Larimer. Friday night was the opening of a wonderful Member Show at the Larimer in Palatka, FL. Our President, Lyn Asselta, said: "I want to thank all of you who came out to the opening at the Larimer tonight. The show looked beautiful and we had a wonderful turnout.". Even thought the weather turned stormy later, and she hoped everyone made it home safely through the storm! First Coast Pastel Society. Friday, July 11, 2014. Great ar...
First Coast Pastel Society: Portraiture
http://www.firstcoastpastelsociety.com/2015/05/portraiture.html
First Coast Pastel Society. Monday, May 18, 2015. Last weekend the FCPS was privileged to host a workshop with noted portrait artist Ann Manry Kenyon. We had a good group of eager participants at the workshop. Students worked from a live model, and Ann was generous in spending time with students to give them instructions and critiques. This was a big change for many of our artists, who often choose landscapes as their subjects, so it was a great opportunity for personal growth and stretching the limits.
First Coast Pastel Society: Complementary colors
http://www.firstcoastpastelsociety.com/2015/05/complementary-colors.html
First Coast Pastel Society. Thursday, May 7, 2015. Our May meeting turned out to be just as much fun as it sounded like it would be, with Lyn Asselta offering us all a mini-workshop in using complementary colors. We had 25 attendees at our meeting, which may well be a record, that's almost half our membership, which is a great percentage indeed. We all had our supplies for the mini-workshop. Even with such a short amount of time it was fun to see what everyone did using only two different colors, three v...

First Coast Pastel Society. Sunday, February 8, 2015. A Wonderful plein air day. Wow, what a day. When I was a girl I used to go to Bible Camp every summer. We had art lessons, and songs, and learned Bible verses. One that always stuck with me was from Psalm 118:24 - "This is the day that the Lord has made. Let us rejoice and be glad in it". The waves were rough and big enough to bring out surfers later in the morning, and we shared the boardwalk with whale watchers. Photo by Cynthia Pierson). We were pl...

By Lisa Finn Powell. Wednesday, 13 May 2015. 3,652 Days. In Memory of Paul. That Morning, I was running late, with everything. The service and the wake were meant to be held on the beach in Seattle just down the road from our house, but it had been pouring with rain and the forecast was even worse. I knew this meant that everyone would end up back at our house because it was big enough to accommodate the group. 8217; But, I didn’t. On the beach, s. When I think of how much he has missed, I am engulfed wi...

Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Portrait of a Loving Family. Commission. Due to the small size, I used more pastel pencils than I normally do. I feel I'm done with this "for now," but I always like to take a break for a few days and come back with fresh eyes, to be sure I'm happy with it. Monday, June 22, 2015. Still Life with Roses. Hi, I’m Lisa Fiorvante. I’m a writer, painter, and online community manager based in NYC. I explore topics like creativity, business and marketing, consciousness, the power of adversity, what it means to live a life well lived, and the impact of the digital era on everything from our social lives to our financial status. I’ve spent nearly a decade managing and marketing small businesses online. And in 2017, I began painting and making art after a ten-year hiatus. Is the playlist I throw on whenever I’m p...
