Libraryland: Toddler Art, 2015 Edition

http://www.lisaslibraryland.blogspot.com/2015/06/toddler-art-2015-edition.html

Tuesday, June 9, 2015. Toddler Art, 2015 Edition. This is one of my favorite toddler programs and it is always on my schedule every summer at the beginning of summer reading. You can check out past programs here. I love it because each creation turns out different. Plus, most of my parents end up going shopping right after the program for their own art supplies to make cool creations at home. After all, every house needs a bottle of glitter glue! This year's stations include:. Early Literacy at Home.

Monday, May 18, 2015. Jim Gill Dance Party. Jim Gill will be coming to our library on June 13! In preparation (and to promote his concert), we held a Jim Gill Dance Party last week. Here is our list of songs from the program:. Hands are for Clapping. Silly When You Stop. Jump Up, Turn Around. Stick to the Glue. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Jim Gill Dance Party. Libraryland: April 2015

http://www.lisaslibraryland.blogspot.com/2015_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 23, 2015. Pete the Cat Party. Pete the Cat is one of my favorite book characters and I was really excited to host a Pete the Cat party at my library! This was an event where everyone who registered showed up (which NEVER happens). We started off by reading Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes. And Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Buttons. By Eric Litwin. I chose these two stories as the crafts and activities all centered around these books. Our fourth station was a Button Sorting Center.

Libraryland: My Programs

http://www.lisaslibraryland.blogspot.com/p/my-programs_16.html

2-Year Old Story Time. With this group, I keep the music the same each week, but change the stories and rhymes. It helps them to find consistency between the programs. Plus, they get really excited that the "know" the songs! From a leading perspective, keeping the same format helps maintain some sort of order so kids learn that when the song is over, it is time to sit and listen. Here is a sample format:. Story (start with the longest). Song: If You're Happy and You Know it from. All Around Ralph's World.

Libraryland: Mad Scientists-Catapults

http://www.lisaslibraryland.blogspot.com/2014/02/mad-scientists-catapults.html

Wednesday, February 19, 2014. Let me start off by saying that I am a non-science person. I have been following various blogs and presentations to psych myself up and made the plunge this winter. This goes to show you that if I can do it, you can too. The idea came about as a combo from two sources-The Show Me Librarian's Attack on the Fort. Cost is very important to me when deciding on a program. This is was my list of supplies and the cost:. 1 box of craft sticks. The total cost was $10.98 which mak...

Ms. Kelly at the Library: Fizz, Boom, Read!: Catapult Science

http://mskellyatthelibrary.blogspot.com/2014/08/fizz-boom-read-catapult-science.html

Thursday, August 14, 2014. Fizz, Boom, Read! Next on my list of SRP programs to catch readers up on is the Catapult Science program I did for Grades 3-6. I originally got the idea for this program. From Lisa Mulvenna of Lisa's Libraryland. I knew it would be a fun and easy program to do for this summer's theme and definitely wanted to give it a try. After that, I guided the kids in building their catapults. Some even created mock castle walls after hearing how catapults used to be used in warfare. The se...

Ms. Kelly at the Library: Counting Ramp: Our new early literacy center

http://mskellyatthelibrary.blogspot.com/2015/05/counting-ramp-our-new-early-literacy.html

Tuesday, May 5, 2015. Counting Ramp: Our new early literacy center. My library has a ramp leading into our children's area. The children's area is a few steps down from the center of the library, so the main purpose of the ramp has always been providing accessibility. It is an area of my department I've always had to keep a close eye on because the kids love to run up and down it. Until recently I have never thought of using it to promote early literacy. Our "Counting Ramp" was the result:. The sign deta...

Ms. Kelly at the Library: American Girl Club: Meet Isabelle

http://mskellyatthelibrary.blogspot.com/2014/02/american-girl-club-meet-isabelle.html

Monday, February 24, 2014. American Girl Club: Meet Isabelle. The girls often bring their dolls, but it is definitely not required. The dolls usually end up sitting to the side and watching the rest of the festivities. We start each meeting by talking about the girl's time period and books. I always ask who has read the books, and what they know about the time period. Reading the books is not a requirement by any means, but I usually have a least one girl who has. We played "Pass the Dance" first. In...

Ms. Kelly at the Library: June 2015

http://mskellyatthelibrary.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, June 27, 2015. Every Hero Has a Story: Who is your hero? Ever since I took an early childhood related webinar through MLA about two months ago, I've been thinking about how to provide literacy building activities on every available library surface. I created our counting ramp. And am planning on adding a Lego board and a flannel board to the sides of our shelves. For summer reading I wanted to come up with a literacy building passive program that kids of all ages could enjoy. I'd love to hear a...

Lisa's Library Corner

The librarian's book recommendations from the Elgin Public Library in Elgin, Iowa. Wednesday, September 6, 2017. I so enjoyed Ruth Ware's thriller The Woman in Cabin 10. And couldn't wait for her newest book to hit the library. It is another taut, exciting psychological thriller mixing the elements of friendship, coming of age, mysterious death, and loyalty. Should we be willing to risk everything to be loyal and uphold a promise? When do the lies have to stop? Links to this post. While you certainly do ...

Stadt Land. Geschichten. Impressionen.
