Poetry, fiction and everything in between. Monday, July 7, 2014. Staycation – a writing holiday. I haven't had a staycation for 9 years. A whole week at home to write was just something I hadn't been able to organize.too many other demands on my "holiday" time. But this year, it finally happened! I am at home writing a chapter a day for a novel I'm working on. What a wonderful schedule. Three meals, some chores and some writing. How great is that? Now all I need is a really good beach read.

Lisa Young's Blog: December 2013
http://lisa-youngc.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Poetry, fiction and everything in between. Tuesday, December 31, 2013. What Are You Doing New Year’s Eve? I always thought it was ironic to combine a night of drunkenness and indulgence with making new goals/resolutions. How many times have I resolved to have a healthier lifestyle in the new year, only to wake up on the first day of that new year, hung over, exhausted and regretting all of the rich, albeit, delicious food that went along with the celebrations. But what does that say about us? Out with th...

Lisa Young's Blog: First Readers
http://lisa-youngc.blogspot.com/2015/07/first-readers.html
Poetry, fiction and everything in between. Sunday, July 12, 2015. There's a certain urgency to share my work as soon as I've written it. My first reader is my husband, Mike. I'm looking to see whether he thinks it works overall. He'll point out any weak spots and do a quick proofread for me too. Sometimes I read my work aloud to him in the kitchen while dinner is cooking. A first reader should have good judgment. Is a first reader a kind of gatekeeper? Who isn't a good first reader? Sunday, July 12, 2015.

Lisa Young's Blog: April 2013
http://lisa-youngc.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html
Poetry, fiction and everything in between. Tuesday, April 30, 2013. I'm writing some short stories. You want to know how it's going? Well, I'm loving it. I've found a writer that I'm totally in love with and he's helping me out - a lot. Raymond Carver. You're left to fill in some blanks. It's like a make your own adventure story, but much more satisfying. For example, in the story, "What We Talk About When We Talk About Love," the end [spoiler alert! Oddly, even though a lot of his stories, if not all hi...
