Real comfort: A new home...
http://realcomfort.blogspot.com/2011/04/new-home.html
There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort" Jane Austen. Tuesday, 5 April 2011. This is a dusty old corner of the worldwideinterweb . I've not posted a thing since February 2009! I've come back with a plan. A friend of mine has been charting the making of her new home via her most entertaining blog, The House at Porter Street. I've decided to borrow the idea with pride (ie be a blatant copycat), and chart the making of our new home, which we bought - ta da - last Sunday! The big renovation wo...

Real comfort: Lucky me
http://realcomfort.blogspot.com/2009/01/lucky-me.html
There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort" Jane Austen. Thursday, 29 January 2009. I got some lovely homewares for Christmas (and yes, I know I'm late in posting about this, but it's been a busy month). My mum gave me this beautiful, intensely blue platter. It came from Market Import. And was wrapped in loads of bright, happy tissue paper. I've used it to serve food, but most of the time it's sitting on my table with stone fruit on it. My brother and sister must have been reading my blog.

cute when frustrated: Lunch in a jar: A Pinterest win
http://cutewhenfrustrated.blogspot.com/2014/04/lunch-in-jar-pinterest-win.html
Saturday, April 26, 2014. Lunch in a jar: A Pinterest win. If there is one practical thing that Pinterest has given me - other an an unmatched way to procrastinate and a never ending selection of workouts - it's the whole 'Lunch in a Jar' thing. This layer sits in the dressing so you want items that will taste better with a little marinating. Brown rice, quinoa, lentils, chick peas or other legumes, grated raw beetroot or carrots, raw cabbage, broccoli, kale, Swiss chard. Ingredients in the photo above.

cute when frustrated: Mind What You Wear: The power of superhero t-shirts
http://cutewhenfrustrated.blogspot.com/2014/06/mind-what-you-wear-power-of-superhero-t.html
Sunday, June 01, 2014. Mind What You Wear: The power of superhero t-shirts. As I sat drinking my Sunday coffee in bed, I read a report about a new book. Detailing he psychological power of clothes. It's fascinating stuff that, on some level, we've all known about for a long time but it still feels good to have a trained psychologist validate my reasons for wearing a Guns 'n' Roses t-shirt to work last Friday. See me when I'm a mess. I still put on a vest, with an S on my chest. I'm a Superwoman, yes I am.

Real comfort: 'Tis the season to feel ...
http://realcomfort.blogspot.com/2008/12/tis-season-to-feel.html
There is nothing like staying at home for real comfort" Jane Austen. Sunday, 21 December 2008. Tis the season to feel . Well a bit frazzled really. I thought I had Christmas under control, but a combination of a domestic crisis or two, a ridiculous work schedule, and my child minding arrangements falling through this week is leaving me feeling on edge. A cup of tea and a glimpse at Domino. Magazine's website is helping somewhat. Shiny and pretty and Christmas is nearly here! Now, back to work.

cute when frustrated: Thinking about: Winter grey
http://cutewhenfrustrated.blogspot.com/2014/06/thinking-about-winter-grey.html
Sunday, June 01, 2014. Thinking about: Winter grey. It's the first day of winter today and you'd certainly know it - the sky is grey with rain clouds and it's got me thinking about what I want to wear as the temperatures drop. You already know I'm a big fan of black and white so it won't be a stretch for you to imagine me adding layers of grey this year. So adventurous! Will I look like an idiot? How will I warm my toes? Merino knit from JCrew. Fedora from Lack of Color. Italian wool pants from JCrew.

bollewangenhaptoet: more barkcloth
http://bollewangenhaptoet.blogspot.com/2013/06/more-barkcloth.html
Friday, 28 June 2013. This is the other barkcloth fabric that I am using to make the floor cushions. When we first moved to Seattle, I had no idea really of distance so when I saw interesting yard sales advertised on Craig's List I just thought, oh yeah, I'll go there. This took me to the residential back blocks of Edmonds, Renton, Kirkland, Redmond, all sorts of places. It was a learning experience. I still have quite a lot of mending to do on them yet. It is curious that the damage appears to be ca...

bollewangenhaptoet: are we there yet?
http://bollewangenhaptoet.blogspot.com/2013/05/are-we-there-yet.html
Monday, 20 May 2013. Are we there yet? Really, what more is there that I can tell or show of this knitting project that I haven't before? I'm working on it - same story. Repeat 7 of the second side looks just like repeat 6 and just like repeat 5 and - same stitch pattern, over and over. So, I am currently seven repeats in, two and a half and an edging to go. Definitely before this project turns three in December! So good to see the shawl again; its become a long-time dear friend. 24 May 2013 at 14:32.
