We've been raising sheep since before we bought our farm in 2012, but it wasn't until the fall of 2013 that we started our Icelandic flock with three ewes - Ellie (left) , Finn (middle) and Berrit (right). They are all full-blooded Icelandics registered with the Canadian Sheep Breeders' Association. Elli delivered twin lambs on 4/30/2014 unassisted. Unfortunately we did not find one of the twins immediately. I am not sure if he was born dead or died shortly after due to hypothermia - the weather ...WPW 0...

We enjoy a wide variety of laying hens here on our little farm. Each year we experiment with one or two new breeds. I love having a colorful flock, and I love our colorful egg basket. When we show people our eggs they often say "Oh wow, you won't even have to dye them for Easter! All of our hens are fed organic non-GMO feed throughout their lives, and during the summer they range on green pasture where they can eat grass (yes chickens eat lots of young grass! In 2008 we purchased our very first alpaca from a farm in northern MN. We didn't even own a farm yet, but that didn't matter. We boarded her at her farm of origin and spent the next four years volunteering on her and other farms to learn all we could about raising alpacas. It is always best to visit a farm in person before making any purchasing decisions, and we encourage you to visit our farm and meet our boys - and girls - if you are considering adding alpacas to your farm.
