Restoring Reading Deficits

Saturday, 28 August 2010. There is no reason why EVERY child should not achieve Level 5 in English at Key Stage 2, including those for whom Level 2 is predicted. The consensus view that only those who achieve Level 5 in English (about one third) are fully equipped to tackle the secondary school curiculum and about one fifth of pupils will leave school less than functionally illiterate! If we do not change the way we teach reading, that horrendous statistic will never change. 8216;Hot Reading’. 2 On Tuesd...

Stress in Key Stage 2 Tests: Stress

http://stresslevels.blogspot.com/2010/09/stress.html

Stress in Key Stage 2 Tests. Tuesday, 21 September 2010. Stress and the Key Stage 2 tests. Imagine being a consultant surgeon knowing that one in every five operations you conduct will fail because you possess neither the means nor the skills to ensure success in every operation. Solve the problem of the teacher’s stress by giving them the appropriate means and skills to deliver 100% literacy and their stress as well as the stress on the children they teach will vanish. Dictation Exercises: Dictation Exercises.

http://dictationexercises.blogspot.com/2010/09/dictation-exercises.html

Wednesday, 22 September 2010. It is our experience that no child who completes twenty-four of these dictation exercises at a rate of two per week, ever achieves less than Level 5 in English at Key Stage 2. No teacher should be in any doubt as to the very high value of this course in terms of extending literacy skills at Key Stage 2. The Dictation sessions specifically exercise. Return to Home Page. Library Exercises: September 2010

http://libraryexercises.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 21 September 2010. Children must be taught that the purpose of the computer preparation is so that they will be able to read the passage to an adult, with few if any errors. Children must learn to use the library without adult intervention or direct supervision. Any adult intervention, interferes with the reading process which is an anti-social, receptive activity. The time to praise and encourage the child is when s/he is reading the passage from the printout. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
