Literally YA: Separating Your Foils (Not a cooking lesson, I swear)
http://literally-ya.blogspot.com/2012/10/separating-your-foils-not-cooking.html
Sounds like YA to me. Monday, October 15, 2012. Separating Your Foils (Not a cooking lesson, I swear). Sometimes I feel like I blog more about Catherine Fisher’s Incarceron. Than about anything else. And if I do, it’s definitely for good reason. But while I obviously love the book, I love its sequel, Sapphique. I figure that’s partly because my favorite character gets more screen time (page time? But also because most of the supporting characters are fleshed out quite a bit. Throughout most of Incarceron,.

Could be a problem for another generation of demigods," I agreed. "Then we can kick back and enjoy.'. She nodded, though she still seemed uneasy. I didn't blame her, but it was hard to feel too upset on a nice day, with her next to me, knowing that I wasn't really saying good-bye. We had lots of time. Race you to the road? Sounds like YA to me. Monday, March 18, 2013. Interview with Caitlin Hensley. I’m sure it’s obvious I’ve had to put the blog on hiatus for now, but I had to temporarily lift that so I could point you guys to an amazing new book I love. Just released, and its wizard author, Caitlin Hensley. Was kind enough to let me interview her as a sort of celebratory thing. I was excited for that, because I really loved her book—and that’s saying something, since I normally hate paranormal stuff. Sounds stellar, right?
Literally YA: On Staying Intense and Gazelle-ish
http://literally-ya.blogspot.com/2012/01/on-staying-intense-and-gazelle-ish.html
Sounds like YA to me. Thursday, January 19, 2012. On Staying Intense and Gazelle-ish. Last year in school, my whole grade had to take a semester of Financial Literacy—we used the Dave Ramsey course. I know that probably doesn’t seem very relevant (um, at all), but one expression he used stuck with me and reminds me of writing. He always said that when a person is in debt, s/he needs to use “gazelle-like intensity” to get out of that debt. Sure, we all need breaks. We all need time for the other. Deprive ...

A personal blog for an avid reader and writer. Random thoughts, ideas, and inspiration on life, writing, and the literary world. Wednesday, February 29, 2012. How often do we actually sit down and listen to people? Some of the best stories might be right in front of our very. 8212;er—ears, but we’re too preoccupied with whatever is going on internally to realize it. Worse still, we may be missing out on opportunities to better know people, even people as close as our family. Listen to someone, as if thei...

Writing in the Dreamstate. Can this be real? I have my dream job! Tuesday, June 21, 2011. Comparing Documents in Word. I've revised my WIP nine times. That's right.nine times. Sometimes, I wonder if anything of the original draft remains. If only there were some way to see how many changes I've made and how the first version compares to the last. Oh, but there is! You knew you could count on me for more Word nerdery, right? And selected the option to compare them in a new document. The red circled area o...

A personal blog for an avid reader and writer. Random thoughts, ideas, and inspiration on life, writing, and the literary world. Monday, January 30, 2012. Recognizing your own Writing Strengths. It’s easy to tell when something is written poorly. When revising our own work, a preposition out of place, a misspelled word, or a string of repetitive sentences can stand out to us like a glowing red stop sign, making it easy to slip into that “What was I thinking—my writing is HORRIBLE! Emotionally charged sce...

A personal blog for an avid reader and writer. Random thoughts, ideas, and inspiration on life, writing, and the literary world. Thursday, June 7, 2012. A Weekend of Anime and Anime Lovers. My sister made all the costumes. They went as Death the Kid, Liz, and Patty from Soul Eater:. Like I said, I don't watch much anime, so I went as Kaylee from Firefly (it's old, I know, but I only just got around to watching it about a month ago). My sister's friend and I were super exited to find Sherlock posters!
