Literally Organized

Friday, October 3, 2014. Changes for a second baby. Investing in a double stroller. I could write a whole post about this, though I probably won't ever get to it. We searched for a reasonably sized tandem-style double stroller. The options in this realm are pretty limiting. I'd eyed some other lady's Phil and Teds double stroller. The biggest drawback of the City Select? We kept Adam facing toward us for the first couple months he was in the upright seat, but we recently switched him to forward-facing, a...

Literally Organized: Reflections from a Disney Store

http://literallyorganized.blogspot.com/2014/05/reflections-from-disney-store.html

Wednesday, May 7, 2014. Reflections from a Disney Store. I grew up playing with Barbies. I owned at least eight dolls and two lunchboxes full of Barbie clothes. A Barbie townhouse with operating "elevator" stood next to my bed for most of my childhood, and I remember learning my first lesson about budgeting when I saved up $20 from allowances and report card rewards to purchase a Barbie kitchen. I was not prepared for the gender-divided experience that is the Disney Store. Although we stayed firmly groun...

Literally Organized: June 2014

http://literallyorganized.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Sunday, June 8, 2014. Mothering a newborn vs. a toddler. Because the newborn isn't staying asleep all night every night, I'm left wondering what I'm doing wrong. Is he not sleeping enough during the day? Is he sleeping too much during the day? Should he get a bottle before bed? He almost always does because I'm usually working during his bedtime.) Is he eating enough during the day? Would he sleep better if he had formula or started solid food before six months? Should my husband take over night feedings?

Literally Organized: Miami hotel review: The Fontainebleau

http://literallyorganized.blogspot.com/2013/11/miami-hotel-review-fontainebleau.html

Wednesday, November 6, 2013. Miami hotel review: The Fontainebleau. So, we decided to go all-out with our Miami trip, and we wound up staying at the Fontainebleau. A hotel that appealed to the Rat Pack back in the day and most recently achieved legendary status as probably the most expensive hotel we've stayed at to date. But it was worth it. Matt: "There's this special. Should we book it? Me: "We can cancel the reservation for free up until the day of check in. Let's book it.". The beach is beautiful!

Tuesday, August 12, 2014. Making working work for us. Ever since Matt and I opened joint bank accounts a month after we got married (eight years ago next week! This whole gig is rather perfect, and here's why:. I am working just the right amount. We do not pay for childcare. We have equal parenting. In the Washington, D.C. area, this is also crucial. I'm my own boss. There are, though, many drawbacks to this lifestyle. Here's what we've experienced:. We don't have much "down time". I have to work weekends.

Friday, December 13, 2013. Creating a toddler YouTube channel. Note: If you're viewing this post through an RSS reader, you might have trouble with some of the embedded videos. Please visit my blog for the links! Yesterday our child turned 23 months old, and as I reflect back on 22 months, I think it will go down in our daughter's life story as the month she started singing. A lot. And asked us to sing for her. A lot. "Mommy sing more songs! Creating a YouTube channel. Sing the Alphabet Song! This is by ...

Creating our geeky home together. Laquo; Firefly Gathering. Capture Your Grief : Sunrise and Heart. Last Summer’s Kitchen Project. On September 25, 2014. Our current big project isn’t even in our own house. My Mother-In-Law has a horribly dysfunctional kitchen built in the 1930’s and we are tackling it for her. The choices she wants to make are not exactly our taste, but hey, she’s the designer, not us! But fast forwarding to last summer…. And now for a reveal of the partially finished kitchen switcharoo!

Eat, Think, and Be Married. Random musings on life, love, and food. Friday, June 4, 2010. Jason's Birthday Fiesta: Saving the Best for Last. Not long after discovering Smitten Kitchen. The result was WONDERFUL! I definitely like the texture of this cake much better than the last. Jason also agreed that it was a winning combination ….and what he would be expecting on his birthday until the day he dies. So I guess I will have plenty of time to continue to perfect! For the cake layers. 1 1/3 cups cake flour.
