Tuesday, September 25, 2012. A few of my thoughts and our summer nature adventures. Here are a few photos from our summer. A highlight of these months was our visit to a butterfly room at a science museum. We all loved the enchanting experience and returned home dreaming together of how we could create our own butterfly sanctuary. We have more recently discovered dragonflies, which are much faster than butterflies and more difficult to capture and observe. Our latest [and most vile, in my opinion] "guest...

Home Education Journal: Symmetry Art Project
http://homeeducationjournal.blogspot.com/2014/01/symmetry-art-project.html
Friday, January 17, 2014. Today we are learning more about symmetry. For this project I searched magazines for images of faces. I removed the pages with those images from the magazines, then I used a cutting tool to slice the paper in half down the center of each face. I ended up with about a dozen images for the kids to choose from. Each child selected a face to draw from and we taped the corners of each image onto a plain sheet of white paper. Everyone did such a fantastic job! Enter your email address:.

http://homeeducationjournal.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
Tuesday, April 26, 2011. Today my 3-year-old and I played with our ABC cards. She identified each letter and then we practiced saying the sounds each letter makes. I was really surprised by how many she already knew! Big brother has been teaching her lots of letter sounds lately.]. I asked her to think of words that begin with each letter as we went through them. My son wanted to play too, so I asked him to write down the words she thought of. Here is the list she came up with. A is for Am and Andy.

Home Education Journal: Our Homeschool Space
http://homeeducationjournal.blogspot.com/2012/09/our-homeschool-space.html
Wednesday, September 26, 2012. I call it our "homeschool space" because our great room is a multi-purpose area for our family. We've managed to make it our dining room, living room, office, homeschool room, and exercise room. The lower drawers in the white armoire hold craft materials such as construction paper, a box of scrap cardstock papers, coloring books, markers, crayons etc. Really, rules for our family.]. They are simple and few: 1. Word hard, 2. Be kind. I love our magnetic white board! One of m...
