Reflections of a beginning teacher…. October 11, 2009. I just finished my final year of the Master of Teaching program. I just got my first classroom: Spanish Kindergarten! I have a morning and afternoon class. I’ve had a brief encounter with this special group of little people last school year teaching them Music, but this is going to be a completely difference experience! I got my Bachelor of Arts degrees in Development Studies with a specialization in Latin America and Spanish. Enter your comment here.

Reflections of a beginning teacher…. Time Warp November 18, 2012. 8212; Srta.Mesc @ 5:18 pm. Dia de los muertos. I honestly feel like I wrote the last blog last week. Time flies. I can’t believe that we’re into November already! I still feel like I’m scrambling most of the time but the panicky feeling has died although it does come back at least once a week. When they’re too quiet, that’s when I start to get nervous. The new teachers in the school are supposed to be having evaluations soon. I am a ne...

Reflections of a beginning teacher…. Where is your spark? February 18, 2013. 8212; Srta.Mesc @ 3:54 pm. I went to a workshop at my school last week that asked us what our spark was. I couldn’t think of anything! What gets me excited about life? At first I thought yoga? But that’s not really true especially because I haven’t been practicing on a regular basis and it really doesn’t invade other areas of my life. All I could come up with was feelings. Really? We have to teach, it’s unreal! 8211; get some re...

Mama's be workin'. This entry was posted on November 28, 2012, in Parenting. And tagged anger management. And that was WELL before I was even thinking of having kids! Have some anger issues to deal with. M has had to hold me back a few times from beaking off at someone because that someone was a lot bigger than me and HE didn’t want to have to get in a fight for me…I mean because of me. So I said…”Easy Sofia…you have to buy her dinner first! In class. M left a good tip afterwards. Enter your comment here.

Mama's be workin'. This entry was posted on February 17, 2015, in Uncategorized. Here’s how a little conversation went this morning while on our way to the store. While driving, we encountered an individual who’s skills behind the wheel were lacking. I muttered a few choice words at him and called the guy an “idiot”. Pretty tame as far as “bad words” go. S: Mummy, who’s that guy? Me: Oh, just a car that wasn’t doing a very good job of driving. S: What’s his name? S: Is his name Idiot? S: Is Eli Idiot?

Mama's be workin'. Bomb Squad Diaper Duty. This entry was posted on February 7, 2014, in Uncategorized. Having two kids is mostly what I expected, no real surprises there. I’m tired all the time, feeling the crazy tug for attention between the two kids and the guilt that it brings and trying to keep my house from looking like a bomb hit it. Some days are good and some not so much. And speaking of diaper duty…duty calls. Keep your fingers crossed…. One thought on “ Bomb Squad Diaper Duty. You are commenti...

Mama's be workin'. This entry was posted on October 29, 2012, in Parenting. What follows is usually me trying my best to look serious…I widen my eyes, straighten my back, my voice goes lower and slower…”Sofia…noooo”. She’ll give me a big toothy smile, laugh and give the cord another shake or two. At this point I try to entice her to drop the cord and come to me, arms open, trying to convey the cuddle that’s waiting is. I feel like this is when. So how do you get your kid to listen to you? Mama's be workin'. The Day No One Will Forget. This entry was posted on June 24, 2013, in Fun. Nowadays my birthdays have become quieter affairs. Every year we go out for a fancy dinner with some close friends, my dear M will pick the place (he’s got GREAT taste in restaurants).
