Reading Books and Raising a Shepherd: A Different Flesh
http://jwmacon.blogspot.com/2011/12/different-flesh.html
Reading Books and Raising a Shepherd. Friday, December 16, 2011. Harry Turtledove is known as "The Master of Alternate History" - a category of science fiction I love - so I was excited to see one of his books in a used bookstore a few months ago. I bought A Different Flesh. A short, fun read. I recommend it. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Good Reads (other blogs). 2 Little T's and their lives. The Adventures of Lil' Bit. Steam engine comes through College Station. Annual Father's Day Tradition.

Reading Books and Raising a Shepherd: January 2012
http://jwmacon.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Reading Books and Raising a Shepherd. Monday, January 30, 2012. Jared got me another Philip K Dick book for Christmas, Dr. Futurity. As with a lot of his stories, there's some discussion of time travel. In this novel, he basically says that if a time machine were ever to exist, it would already exist unless the person inventing it decided not to share it. So, in all likelihood, time machines won't ever exist. It's an interesting thought - makes my head hurt to dive into it! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Reading Books and Raising a Shepherd: May 2010
http://jwmacon.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Reading Books and Raising a Shepherd. Saturday, May 1, 2010. So I just finished reading Breaking Dawn. Today - I stretched it out over the last week while I was on vacation so I could enjoy it longer. Totally worth it! I loved that Bella is stronger and more sure of herself in this last book of Stephenie Meyer's teen vampire saga. I think this was my favorite of the series; definitely liked it better than the middle two. I'm interested to see how the last movie turns out! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

http://jwmacon.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Reading Books and Raising a Shepherd. Tuesday, November 30, 2010. Late Summer and Fall Books. Late this summer, a close friend loaned me two books: Giant. By Edna Ferber and The Art of Racing in the Rain. By Garth Stein. I loved, loved, loved them (thanks, K.C! Was more recently made into a musical. The Art of Racing in the Rain. I took a break from reading novels after those two books. About a month ago, I found The Lost Symbol. It has the same character as Angels and Demons. And The Da Vinci Code.

Tuesday, May 11, 2010. We went to the annual Yurasko Kentucky Derby party about a week ago! You'll know we're at that party because of the above photo of William with the traditional mint juleps. We have been trying to get this photo, of Mark and Amara with Christopher and Alexandra for the longest time. Here it is - yeay! Here's Alexandra giving baby Amara and hug and a kiss. She is so sweet with babies! Alexandra and I relaxing on our patio after the party! I really like this having a "mini-me" thing :).

The Yurasko Difference: October 2009
http://yuraskodifference.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 30, 2009. We have a Toddler! Alexandra started walking on her own at 15 months, but has recently (at 16 months) started to perfect it. Now, she likes to try to walk everywhere! Here she is walking with Grandee. . . . And with her daddy. . . . And with her mommy! And yes, as I explained to her cousins last weekend, she can also walk by herself (but it's definitely cuter for photos if she's holding someone's hand! I'm so proud of my little girl! She's talking and now walking! In September, ...

Reading Books and Raising a Shepherd. Friday, March 5, 2010. Fetch in a Field. With the leash removed and nobody around for several hundred feet, we release him from the formal walk beside us by saying "okay" and he bounces up and down waiting for that ball to come out of our pocket. Indy leaping up to catch the ball. Indy waiting for the ball to fly. Tuesday, March 2, 2010. Three Books, Three Genres. I read The Street Lawyer. After Grisham's book I read Ender's Game.
