Improving surface roots on a Ficus Benjamina Natasja pt. 4. I repotted the cling-wrap experiment ficus today. Result was approx. 50% success. About half of the new roots has dried up but there were also a bunch of healthy survivors in the right places. Results would have been better if I didn't remove the wrap the day before I went on vacation and then were too lazy to water frequently enough for the following monts but I still think the technique is solid. Almost ready for winter. I still got to dig a hole for the monster oak. The rest is either in ground, lazily placed next to the house or in the shed. Big oak, dug this spring. Can't decide on keeping it outside or in storage for this winter. It really is to large to go inside but It is still weak from collecting. Burning bush. Grew really well this season. Will go into bonsai pot in spring and final work on branching can start. Two new long term projects. To be repotted in spring and then growing trunks untill the kids move out. Crab apple. Branch devellopment has begun. 2-3 years until bonsai pot. Finished in 4-5 years? Walter Pall Bonsai Adventures.

On and about Bonsai. Söndag 9 september 2012. A beach, a picea and a common field acer, in the black pot. A ficus, 2 oaks and a populus tremula in the round pot. A larix cascade, another oak and 2 gooseberries in the ceramic pots. A forest of juniperus communis. A little ulmus parviflora. A forest of sequioas (the one in the middle is dead ). A juniperus blaauw, a picea abies, a Ulmus praviflora in the red pot. Another field juniperus communis. I will try to make a cascade of this scott pinus.

On and about Bonsai. Torsdag 4 oktober 2012. This one in swedish, soil substrat test. En av våra medlemmar, Henrik Björck har utfört en mycket bra test som jag här vill uppmärksamma. Henrik kan nås på henrik.bjorck@bonsaicutttingsstockholm.se. Följande testades, enligt bilderna nedan. Grus (Gata, grustag). Jord (min egen blandning, bark, grus mest leca). Först testade jag 2dl av varje, partiklar mindre än 1mm silades bort (med den klassiska pastasilen). Partiklar större 4,5mm silades bort (med en bärsil).

Thursday, September 30, 2010. Flowering quince (Chaenomeles) is a very colourful tree in the spring with an abundance of flowers appearing all over the tree. This tree was purchased in the spring from a garden center near Helsinki. I repotted the tree in August because this is the recommended time for this tree, and not in the spring. A tiny project diary. Wednesday, June 22, 2011. I just finished a can of mackerel in tomato sauce. While I was rinsing it out, before putting it in the recycle bin, I realized it had quite a nice shape. In fact it could probably be put to use as a mame bonsai pot. While lingering on the thought I decided to keep the semi-opened curled lid, since it gives the can an even more interesting look. After that I just threw it in the dishwasher to get it cleaned out properly. And the highest point is the middle.

End of the year. Long time - no see. But I'm still Active, just not blogging much. Trees grow slow and I usually prefer working on the trees rather than writing about it nowdays.
