Two steps forward..: Still quite cross.....

Things about being part of the church and living life. Thursday, 22 November 2012. Lots of very good blogging been going on all over the place about what happened at the Church of England's Synod on Tuesday of this week. I'm going to make the terrible assumption that if you're reading this you know about all that. That you know how angry and sad it has made many people. It made me feel angry and sad too. I was shocked by the impact as it happens. OK - here goes. 3) What has been highlighted is both the a...
Two steps forward..: Wrong kind of progress
http://liturgysmiturgy.blogspot.com/2013/03/wrong-kind-of-progress.html
Things about being part of the church and living life. Monday, 4 March 2013. Wrong kind of progress. I knew when I decided to vote againt the proposed reorganisation scheme. For the Dioceses of Wakefield. We need strong local leadership, archdeacons and Bishops who know the people they are dealing with, both lay and clergy, and who have the time to be both strategic and pastoral in their approach. We need streamlined administration which is creatively and flexibly managed and outsourced when necessary...

Two steps forward..: March 2013
http://liturgysmiturgy.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html
Things about being part of the church and living life. Wednesday, 27 March 2013. This is something I wrote to use in our local Infant school. After our last SIAS (Statuatory Inspection of Anglican Schools) it was found that though our collective worship was good, the kids weren't able to articulate what we were actually doing when we worship. So I wrote this, sung to the tune of. We gather and greet one another,. Say hello to the God who cares,. Say hello to our sisters and brothers. Knowing God is near.

Ian's blog: IT WAS ALL WORTHWHILE
http://ianblakeley.blogspot.com/2015/05/it-was-all-worthwhile.html
Friday, 8 May 2015. IT WAS ALL WORTHWHILE. Many horrible things happen in our world which are the cause of much suffering to human kind. Such suffering poses many problems for Christian faith. Recently, a famous celebrity athiest, on Irish television, imagined meeting God at the Pearly gates saying, "Bone cancer in children, what's that all about? Many, on asking this question conclude that either God is not all powerful, or he is not good, or God does not exist. The point C. S Lewis makes is painful...

Saturday, 28 March 2015. I feel Jesus wanted this act to be grasped with joy by the whole of human kind: After all it should be simple and uncomplicated, and I feel sure it was meant to be a source of unity in discipleship; so why is it this wonderful meal together become a cause of division? Ian's blog: July 2013
http://ianblakeley.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Tuesday, 30 July 2013. Fight the Good Fight (Christian Pacifism). Humanity appears to take war for granted. Peoples and nations make war on other peoples and nations and have done so throughout history, it all seems so inevitable as if it is part of the human make up, almost as if warfare is part of our DNA. Is it time to radically re-think the Christian position on war? Should we end the old acceptance of war? Should Pacifism be the Churches stance in the future? This changed rapidly in the time of Cons...
Ian's blog: January 2014
http://ianblakeley.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 22 January 2014. The act of God coming to live alongside humanity actually changes our real relationship with the Eternal One. It is not the spiritual movement by which we change our own condition, or make ourselves eligible for God to change it. It is the dawning wonder of realization that it has been changed. GOD CHANGED IT WHILE WE WERE NOT LOOKING! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Huddersfield, United Kingdom. View my complete profile. Ministry Nuts and Bolts. Now that's what I'm talking about.
Ian's blog: September 2014
http://ianblakeley.blogspot.com/2014_09_01_archive.html
Saturday, 6 September 2014. The Apostle Peter is said to have believed, "In every nation those who are god-fearing and do what is right are acceptable to him." (Acts 10:34) - If Peter was right then what is the right motive for the Christian mission to the world? For the Christian mission to the world is to show why the message about Christ deserves to be believed and spread. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Huddersfield, United Kingdom. View my complete profile. Ian's blog: December 2015
http://ianblakeley.blogspot.com/2015_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, 23 December 2015. The nativity stories found in the gospels of Matthew and Luke are often described these days as lovely legends which convey the truth of God visiting the earth in order to save human kind. But when I read these stories I find they are exactly the kind of thing that could easily have happened in the ancient world. I am going to take the nativity accounts found in Matthew to illustrate why I think this is so:-. KING HEROD - WAS HE GREAT OR A DESPOT? THE STAR OF BETHLEHEM. Betwe...

Sunday, 14 June 2015. 8220;For the universe to exist as it does and allow intelligent life to exist, it requires an astonishing series of ‘coincidences’ to have occurred. Stephen Hawkings suggested that it is like a hoard of monkeys hammering away on typewriters and by pure chance eventually producing one of Shakespeare's sonnets.” (Stephen Hawkings – A Brief History of Time). Hawkings goes on to say:. If the electric charge on an electron were only slightly different, stars would be unable to burn hydro...

Things about being part of the church and living life. Monday, 9 June 2014. Now that's what I'm talking about. Quite some time ago I posted here about the merger of three Diocese into one - the creation of the Diocese of West Yorkshire and the Dales. Tonight I fire up the blog for the first time in a fair while to say that I am starting to see it, staring to feel it, and starting to see how me, my parish, my area, are part of this. Sometimes it is absolutely awesome to be wrong. Monday, 9 December 2013.
