Hurry Up and Wait. The Life and Adventures of a book-loving, (slightly) workaholic, nerdtastic foodie. Sunday, March 18, 2012. Inspired by Little Stories. When someone asked G.K. Chesterton what one book he would want to have along if stranded on a desert island, he paused only an instant before replying, 'Why, A Practical Guide to Shipbuilding. Of course'". -Philip Yancey, from the introduction to G.K. Chesterton's Orthodoxy. And Reepicheep. I'd really want Reepicheep. 4) Me Talk Pretty One Day. Really ...

Hurry Up and Wait. The Life and Adventures of a book-loving, (slightly) workaholic, nerdtastic foodie. Thursday, October 27, 2011. Internalizing My Ancestral Puritanism. After an incredibly hectic, busy week in which my major event this semester went off well and was a moderate success (THANK GOD), I have today off. And to say I'm exhausted would be an understatement- I ache all over and could barely get my eyelids to open until after 1pm. But I felt guilty about it. My first vacation with Brian's family...

Hurry Up and Wait. The Life and Adventures of a book-loving, (slightly) workaholic, nerdtastic foodie. Saturday, May 26, 2012. On the eve of our departure from Florida, I've just been reflecting on what I'll miss about Florida (and what I WON'T). The grad students. We really had a phenomenal community of friends here, and I hope we'll be able to keep up with them for years to come. The winters. Sometimes I miss seasons, but the weather really is spectacular during the winter. Job application count: 8.

Hurry Up and Wait: Catering escapades

Hurry Up and Wait. The Life and Adventures of a book-loving, (slightly) workaholic, nerdtastic foodie. Monday, July 16, 2012. There have been several times in my life when I have been very, very glad that I can cook. This past weekend, as co-hostess of a bridal shower, was one of those times. I made the cake and 4 trays of hors d'oeurves and paid a fraction of what I would have had to pay for a bakery cake/actual caterer. And, I like to think, they were just as good. Bacon and Swiss mini quiches.

I'm trying not to think about the subsequent months of waiting to hear once he turns them in. Tuesday, November 15, 2011. My Vocation to Feed People. I'm blessed to be able to bake almost ins...

Sunday, October 07, 2012. A sweet husband who is crazy like me. Tuesday, October 02, 2012. My heart is like a refrigerator. I think I'm ready to start writing again. This summer, I sure have struggled with bitterness. I cannot be the only one, so here are my prayers and thoughts on this topic. One of my favorite Tim Keller quotes:. Worry is not believing God will get it right, and bitterness is believing God got it wrong. Do you know how much time I can spend thinking about how life should be? See to it ...
