On Holiday Again: August 2012
http://lacd.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Holidays, walks, family (mostly Aunts), friends, cycling and other miscellanea. Thursday, August 02, 2012. Wednesday, August 01, 2012. It was a strange place - a mix of relaxing and pretty and a racetrack for small people. There wasn't too much shrieking though and Conor settled quietly in a corner to enjoy the view with his grandpa. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. India Experience 2005 - Delhi. On Holiday Again: Day 4 - Hollywood
http://lacd.blogspot.com/2013/10/day-4-hollywood.html
Holidays, walks, family (mostly Aunts), friends, cycling and other miscellanea. Saturday, October 19, 2013. Day 4 - Hollywood. Friday was Movie day (1). We took Cam to school for 9, then came back to shower and get ready. I will have to wait to get home to post photos on the blog alas. Back at his flat we ate the sandwiches on the sofa and watched Pitch Perfect and Iron Man 3 (which had a couple of scenes set outside the Chinese theatre we were at earlier). On Holiday Again: Day 5 - up the coast to Camarillo
http://lacd.blogspot.com/2013/10/day-5-up-coast-to-camarillo.html
Holidays, walks, family (mostly Aunts), friends, cycling and other miscellanea. Sunday, October 20, 2013. Day 5 - up the coast to Camarillo. We had warm pretzels in mid afternoon (cinnamon sugared, mmm) and at the end of the day we had a meal in a local steakhouse before the drive home (about an hour - it was dark by then alas so no more nice views over the ocean). I wrote postcards when we got back but I am sure I will beat them home. The send me email updates button works. :). View my complete profile.

Livia in India: June 2006
http://liviadyckhoff.blogspot.com/2006_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 25, 2006. There was a bit of a monsoony thunderstorm going on: lots of lovely sheet lightning, like the previous night. The captain told us that we wouldn't be able to take off until it calmed down a bit so instead we were going to sit around on the tarmac somewhere (inside a nice metal box in the middle of a big open airfield. hmm. Hope that rubber tyres are insulation! He said it like he honestly meant it, but not in an anti-foreigner way. Ah, bless. Welcome home. Then another long walk to...

Livia in India: Jaipur to Agra
http://liviadyckhoff.blogspot.com/2006/11/jaipur-to-agra.html
Tuesday, November 28, 2006. Another day, another road trip. After our stop at Royal Gaitor, we headed onto the road to Agra. Not my favourite road. It was technically a dual carriageway, for at least some of the distance (about 200km in total), but the sort without much in the way of road markings or anything in the way of a central reservation. And a lot of really really bad road surface. Calm, breathe, try not to squeak as we miss another lorry by a few inches. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Livia in India: Taj Mahal
http://liviadyckhoff.blogspot.com/2006/11/taj-mahal.html
Tuesday, November 28, 2006. We arrived in Agra in the early evening, just as the sun set. We had a moment of concern as Hanna read her guidebook which said that the Taj Mahal is closed on Mondays (argh! But the driver reassured us that it was talking rubbish and it was actually closed on Fridays (makes more sense). Book goes down in our estimation (I'd thought it was a good one before). We bought our tickets (Rs 750) and went through the security scanners. You can't take anything electrical apart fro...

Livia in India: November 2006
http://liviadyckhoff.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 29, 2006. The final minutes of my Internet access are counting down, so anything more I write will be from home. PS - on my way back to the hotel from work tonight I got a call from my manager - would I be able to do another short trip to Mumbai before the end of December? Tuesday, November 28, 2006. Final stage of the Road Trip. On the way out of Agra we stopped off at Sikandra, Emperor Akbar's tomb. Except for this bit of ornamentation, at the entrance to the tomb. It's very hard to...

Livia in India: Where am I?
http://liviadyckhoff.blogspot.com/2006/12/where-am-i.html
Tuesday, December 12, 2006. I'm in a country where. The word "kindly" has apparently replaced the word "please". A tabloid-like newspaper will use the word succubus (in connection with Paris Hilton) without flinching. It's only just starting to be "an issue" not to wear a helmet when on a motorbike ("2 boys killed in 90kmph m/c smash"). A family of 3 can be killed by a car while cooking. Fairness" creams outsell tanning creams by infinity %. Slums spring up 20 yards from 5 * international hotels. Yes, I'...

On Holiday Again: February 2012
http://lacd.blogspot.com/2012_02_01_archive.html
Holidays, walks, family (mostly Aunts), friends, cycling and other miscellanea. Tuesday, February 07, 2012. These two photos were from March 2011 when Andrew and I went for a walk with his brother and sister-in-law and an excitable labrador into the Penicuik House estate, near their home. So what looks like a nice quiet peaceful photo actually has a labrador itching to get in on the action from behind. There are more photos from the walk here. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
