Sunrise at Breeze Bay. Saturday, 08 February 2014. Well it's been a great day hanging out with the family, watching my little one at her swim class and just generally chilling out. Then of course tonight we have the Wellington Rugby Sevens on TV in the background and me at the PC editing some images with Photoshop and NIK Software which it turning into my image tuner of choice at the moment. Sunday, 20 July 2014. The other weekend I was lucky enough to get down to Moeraki in North Otago (in sunny NZ) with my fellow photographers from Rangiora Photographic Society. We got down there on Friday night and headed for the sunrise on Saturday morning which thankfully wasn't hitting till just after 7ish but the light started a wee bit before then. My influences are many and varied; from the atmospheric light of my artistic hero JMW Turner, whose work has been a huge inspiration since childhood, through the late colourfield work of Mark Rothko and the modern expressionistic landscapes of Scottish artist John Houston. I am also very influenced by music, where I try to convey mood, pace and theme through intuitive colour and texture choices. I have a Facebook page at Neil McChrystal Art. Monday, 8 November 2010. The Power of Sticker. I find it truly amazing that a little bit of shiny paper with some tack on the back has the ability to almost utterly control the behaviour of a 2&3/4 year old. But it does.
