Impart Art - Daily. In case you've forgotten (or never saw) the other flag that has been featured here, go ahead and click. Photographic silkscreen/vinyl, 66 x 93 inches. Discuss, if you wish. I am frankly too busy to deal with this blog right now, so yes, that's all I'm doing today. Visual representations of otherwise texty/numbery data are a big deal in certain fields. Some of these are artsy, and others aren’t. Take my post. And my husband uses graphs, charts, and other visual helps to plan projects a...

Impart Art - Daily. How old am I? As you all ought to know, I have two charming kids, and to protect the innocent, we'll call the oldest child star and the youngest dandelion. On frequent occasion, my interest in art gets taken out on them. It happened again not long ago. Matthew showed me a link to a neat little webpage. Readers of character will resist the urge to cheat). What I did last night. It started with these doors. Because although I can find fun patterns in it, I doubt I could design this or s...

Impart Art - Daily. Me Talk Pretty One Day. I certainly hope you've noticed a pattern by now. This is the third installment of 'art stuff in books not really about art', and today it'll be from David Sedaris, around page 51. This quote is drawn from the chapter Twelve Moments in the Life of the Artist. And this moment is number Nine in which David has become a performance-conceptual-happenings artist. 18 June, 2007 03:14. 18 June, 2007 12:55. Suz, I'm so glad you're reading it. So very funny. Impart Art - Daily. The Birthday that Wasn't. So, I got out my wrapping paper and covered up the labels. I did a nice job too, see? I've got all 25 of them ready (oh, I don't think there are that many kids in her class, but I figured better too many than too few) and waiting. Just as soon as the "mood on the ground" stabilizes and people go back to their day-in day-out, Star will have a great class party. This weekend of course, there will be two parties. Dandelion on Saturday, Star on Sunday. Appearance...

Impart Art - Daily. Merry Christmas . . . And a happy New Year. We'll see you then. Better than the Taj Mahal. On our way out of Cairo today, we stopped by the Tombs of Mohammad Ali's Family, which we were told by our (not exaggerating at all) fantastic taxi driver, were worth 950 million dollars. Mohammad Ali was the first Ottoman emperor of Egypt, who came to power in 1811. Apparently they kept slaves and had them killed off to be buried with them. Often in the sketch of a portrait, the invisible lines...

Impart Art - Daily. Hello St. Louis. We're back. Not much art to blog about yet, but there will be eventually. Bye Bye, Beirut. As if there haven't been enough of those already. There have been. No, I'm not finished yet. Why? Don't Jump on the Art. One of our favorite public parks in Beirut has a bit of a sculpture garden along its southern ridge. We were there recently and the girls were doing their thing. I caught Dandelion mid-jump! What else are they up to now? No idea. Maybe if I clear away some...

Impart Art - Daily. Back when I started this blog this is what we all looked like:. But that was then, and this. Is now. See you there. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. This is the blog I wrote the first time we lived in Beirut (2004-2007). Things blew up, people died, bombs were dropped, the government nearly collapsed, and I blogged about art. We took a two-year break from Beirut in St. Louis (USA). Now we're caught up to the present, and we're back in Beirut. Read.
