Tuesday, April 27, 2010. I had planned on making some napkins for us to use to cut down on the waste in our house, but this find was so great now I don't have to! Oh, and they were 4.98 for all twenty-two, plus a 25% off discount that they had on linens that day! At the same thrift store I also scored a beautiful handmade stained glass window quilted pillow for 1.98 and a handmade quilted table runner for 1.98. SCORE! Project Improv: Not as easy as I thought. I've done what I think is my charity block for Project Improv. Improvising can take longer than working from a pattern. Some traditional quilt rules are still good, like pressing your seams to the dark if you can. I can see from my picture that this block needs to be pressed some more. A quarter inch seam is not always necessary. If you aren't matching seams, then don't worrry about it. Friday, January 16, 2009. I love what we consider to be "wild and crazy"!

Thursday, July 28, 2011. Homemade Wheat Sandwich Bread. Homemade bread may seem very daunting, but it really is easy, especially if you have a bread machine. You can do this in a kitchen aid mixer fitted with a dough hook or by hand if you don't have a bread machine. With the machine it takes only a few minutes of my actual time. This recipe was adapted from The Bread Bible. But I did change a few things. 2 2/3 c. all purpose unbleached flour. 1c whole wheat flour. 1/2 c buckwheat flour. 1/2 c flax seed.
