私たちLiP Living in Praise は１９９９年に胆振近郊の教会の青年たちで Oh Happy Day を歌ったことに端を発し 翌２０００年５月に結成したゴスペルクワイアです。 クワイア Choir は日本語に訳すと 聖歌隊 という意味ですが 一般的な聖歌隊のイメージとは異なるため、クワイアと名乗っています。 詩篇２２ ３ ですから 私たちはキリストを通して 賛美のいけにえ すなわち御名をたたえるくちびるの果実を、神に絶えずささげようではありませんか。 Living in Praise の中には 賛美に生きる 賛美の中に住まわれる神 、省略形の LiP には 唇の果実である賛美 という意味をそれぞれにこめています。 ゴスペル Gospel という言葉は現在では随分一般的になってきましたが それ自体が音楽のジャンルを指すのではなく、本来はGod's Spell(神の言葉)という意味で、 福音 とも訳されます。 そしてその愛ゆえに 本来なら罪の中に滅んでしまうべき存在の私達のために 一人子であるイエス キリストを人としてお遣わしになりました。
