Sigida Keneyali: Health in Our Homes. Tuesday, July 22, 2008. So… Dogon Country. The big trip. If you’re short on time, suffice it to say, it was awesome. If you have the time, I took detailed notes, so settle down and stay a while. 8221; (“Get your eggs here! 8221;). Mhop it like it's hot. Friday, June 26, 2009. June winding down (towards the survey promised land). Sorry for my delinquent blogging - things have been CRAZY! We've been coming into the office by 9:30 and not getting home till 11 pm or later - it's been a stressful couple of weeks. I wish i could post pdf files. The baseline survey is complete. I'm going to make an umbrella out of it, laminate that puppy and wave it through the streets of providence. 2 there's a sea-monster in our nyegen (outdoor bathroo...

Deux Mois au Mali: Niang's Wedding Tales

http://deux-mois.blogspot.com/2008/07/niangs-wedding-tales.html

Deux Mois au Mali. A Summer on the Niger River. Wednesday, July 23, 2008. Niang’s Wedding Tales. Chapter 2: The Cortège. At Massi’s, everyone tumbled out of the cars and into her family courtyard. No one really knew where to go (or at least I didn’t), so we sort of all packed into the courtyard to wait for Massi, and people began handing out sodas, until Massi was ready to hop into the white SUV and the cortege took off. http://deux-mois.blogspot.com/2008/07/back-from-dogon.html

Deux Mois au Mali. A Summer on the Niger River. Tuesday, July 22, 2008. Spent last week in Dogon country, doing some trekking with Ben. 12 hour bus ride up to Mopti, and the way back took even longer since we had to turn go back for Ben's passport at the hotel. We got back to Bamako at 4 yesterday morning but lovely Fifi hadn't left our door open for us as promised so we had to try to curl up outside in the courtyard. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). http://deux-mois.blogspot.com/2008/07/wedding-chapter-6-konyoso.html

Deux Mois au Mali. A Summer on the Niger River. Friday, July 25, 2008. The Wedding, Chapter 6: The Konyoso. Niang had to follow strict rules of the Konyoso as well, but the male version seemed like a more acceptable honeymoon. He was confined to his courtyard for the three days following the ceremony, but he had a constant stream of visitors. While Massi sat, bored and hot, inside all day, he would lounge in the courtyard, playing cards and sipping tea with a group of friends. Unhappilly Full of Amoebas.

Deux Mois au Mali. A Summer on the Niger River. Friday, July 4, 2008. No this is not a crêpe. It's an American Pancake and we keep the recipe hidden the lot box. Never been more excited about the 4th of July. But today we made banana pancakes in the morning (which required a great deal of effort to find ingredients) and we’re heading to a BBQ at the American Club for food that doesn’t involve a giant bowl of rice with a fish bone sauce poured on top. mhop it like it's hot: Soukeina

http://coletteinmali.blogspot.com/2009/08/soukeina.html

Mhop it like it's hot. Saturday, August 1, 2009. This past week, Alex and Devon and I went on an overnight trip to Segou, a beautiful sleepy town on the Niger river. That night at dinner, we heard some terrible news from home. When she was 9, she spent a year in France to have a complicated heart surgery through Medecins Sans Frontiers; all we can guess is that the anemia caused by malaria caused a fatal complication with her heart condition. I'm heading to her family's house now - they've welcomed me so...

Sweet lord. We rode the back of randy’s pick-up up a gorgeous natural arch. at the end of the day we had dinner at appaloosa’s, home to burritos, waiters in ten-gallo...4 a wonderful din...
