Living La Pura Vida. A pure perspective on travel, culture, and food. Seattle, I Will (and Will Not) Miss You. 2011: Torn Dreams and ACLs →. SF Through Fresh Eyes. June 1, 2010. It’s been a few weeks since my last post, and I know you’ve all greatly missed reading my online ramblings. Well, I’m back with a lovely post on none-other than the good ole “perspective” topic. This quote from Edward Albee’s “The Zoo Story” pretty much sums up my life and course of action:. This entry was posted in Perspective.

Living La Pura Vida. A pure perspective on travel, culture, and food. Newer posts →. April 13, 2010. But how long does this new perspective and motivation actually last? I recently returned from a perspective-filled trip to Costa Rica. I’ll detail more in future posts, but for now I’ll just point out the “Pura Vida” motto of Costa Rica. Literally, it translates to “pure life,” but its real meaning is closer to “full of life” or “this is living! Living la pura vida on Playa Grande, Costa Rica.

Living La Pura Vida. A pure perspective on travel, culture, and food. Every Day is Earth Day? SF Through Fresh Eyes →. Seattle, I Will (and Will Not) Miss You. May 5, 2010. As many of you know by now, I am moving back to the glorious city of San Francisco this month. And while I am just as excited as you are for my return to the city by the bay, I will indeed miss Seattle. And what about Seattle will I miss you may ask? Well, I’ve compiled a lovely little list of what exactly I’ll miss. Enough of the sap...

Living La Pura Vida. A pure perspective on travel, culture, and food. Is It at Least a Cool Story? ACL Surgery and the Bloody Aftermath. January 28, 2011. A week ago I went under the knife to remove my old, lousy, pathetic, torn, ACL, and replace it with a (relatively) shiny, new one. Here’s a run down of the surgery day and the day following:. Day of Surgery – Friday, January 21. Surgery Shirt: Because I'm a champion too - Thanks Kasey! Below are some of the emotions I felt throughout the day:. After ch...

Living La Pura Vida. A pure perspective on travel, culture, and food. 2011: Torn Dreams and ACLs. ACL Surgery and the Bloody Aftermath →. Is It at Least a Cool Story? January 25, 2011. So after I tore my ACL and had been hobbling around with a knee brace and crutches, I got a ton of questions:. 8220;What’d you do to yourself? 8220;That sucks. Is it at least a cool story? With that woodsy, icy scent whipping through the air. I took this pic that morning - really! Duncan: “Do you think you can hang? After ...

Just another WordPress.com site. Newer posts →. Dangerously close to 1 month. February 14, 2011. Being at roughly the one month mark, I thought I’d add another progress post. As of today (2 days shy of a month), I:. Am walking without my brace 99% of the time (the only time I start to wish for my brace is around crowds or kids). Can bend my leg “comfortably” to 145 degrees…at this point though, I’m really just trying to get my heel to hit my butt. Can walk up stairs normally again! I’m sure there a...

Just another WordPress.com site. Kicking my own a*. 3 Month Update →. Too little, too late…but maybe for the next go round. March 15, 2011. I found myself wondering (as I did my umpteenth squat of the day) about preventative medicine. Are there exercises that generally strengthen or properly align the bits and pieces that went wrong for me in november? In essence, can we train to reduce/avoid the risk of an ACL tear? Fortunately, to avoid my needing to understand things, I can quote:. 8220;We have been w...

Just another WordPress.com site. Too little, too late…but maybe for the next go round. More Informational Blogs →. April 26, 2011. So, 3 months in…it has been a looooong time since I updated the blog. I’m finally understanding why updates on people’s blogs taper off after a month. There are just no exciting things to talk about when you see no drama and experience no big milestones. Heh. Running of the Boston marathon, but probably felt like just as much of an accomplishment to me. Heh. In any ca...A wee...

Living Lapeer – At Home with My Thoughts
At Home with My Thoughts. Taking Stress to Heart. The personal journey and the focus of this particular blog post is that I have had to figure out how not to let the stresses in my life kill me. We would find out later that I had definitely suffered from a heart attack. I would be hospitalized for a week; having a heart catheterization done that basically ended up explained nothing. The final result is that I had a stress-induced heart attack. How does one do that and not get stressed? I love my husband,...
