The Waiting Game | Contemporary Insanity
https://contemporaryinsanity.wordpress.com/2012/10/18/the-waiting-game
October 18, 2012. Here are two facts about me: 1) I hate rejection. 2) I am not a patient person. Does anyone like it? Most of us have developed a lovely set of defense and coping mechanisms specifically for dealing with it. Or rather, avoiding it. Some people, including myself, have become so skilled in this area that we begin to circumvent situations where there’s even a possibility of rejection. Pre-emptive rejection rejection! So I started making a few formal queries by submitting a very few article ...

Autumn Nesting | Contemporary Insanity
https://contemporaryinsanity.wordpress.com/2012/10/22/autumn-nesting
October 22, 2012. Last night the temperature finally dropped to freezing. No frost this morning, but it is COLD out – damp and chill in that patently Pacific Northwest manner. But I’m ready! This weekend was a flurry of nesting: a new, snuggly knitting project and lots of time in the kitchen. The cooling weather and dark purple-grey skies have chased out the Puffs. Instead, I wanted something warm, bulky, and soft to knit. Enter Encompass. I’d love to hear about YOU – As the weather continues...I like yo...

March 21, 2012. Nope, Not Me. Knitting and the knitting community goes through very definite phases of popular trends – just like quilting, cartooning, anime, clothing design, and so many other creative efforts where people get really passionate about what they do. Change of Seasons | Contemporary Insanity

October 17, 2012. Goodness, but it’s been a while! Such a busy summer with lots of weekend travels and working at the still-new-to-me job. But after a beautiful, long late summer Autumn is finally in the air and I have to say I am ready. Knitting was almost non-existent around here this summer. After the Knot Hysteria retreat, it was as if I was topped-off on fiber for a while. But lately I’ve been churning out Puffs. Brilliant colors are all around, but not quite yet everywhere. Benny and I saw our firs...

Two-year Tweed | Contemporary Insanity
https://contemporaryinsanity.wordpress.com/2012/01/31/two-year-tweed
January 31, 2012. Well, at least I can say that there’s one less project underway then when I wrote yesterday’s post. I give you the Two-year Tweed Hat and Scarf Set, an adventure in long-hibernating knit projects. A brief calendar of events in the life of the Two-year Tweed:. How hard could it be? Went to Great Yarns! And bought 3 skeins of Cascade 220 tweed. Realized I couldn’t figure out how to cable from thin air, locate excellent free pattern Mom’s Cabled Scarf. And dive in. Knit 2/3 of scarf. Novem...

Angelberry. It is too a color! | Contemporary Insanity
https://contemporaryinsanity.wordpress.com/2011/07/21/angelberry-it-is-too-a-color
July 21, 2011. Angelberry. It is too a color! I’m knitting a stole for my mommy. I’m calling it the Angleberry Stole. It’s Deby Lake’s “ Angel Wings. 8221; beaded lace pattern by O/C Knitiot Designs, and I think it’s going to knit up fast and dreamy. The pattern looks light and airy and very lacy, but once I saw the chart I realized how fun and fast this may turn out to be. And it has beads! It will be my first beaded knit project. I am stoked about that! The beads i picked are Toho seed. Fill in your de...

Each Day’s Beauty | Contemporary Insanity
https://contemporaryinsanity.wordpress.com/2010/10/05/each-days-beauty
October 5, 2010. Each Day’s Beauty. Today I was going about my business, checking things off the To-do list, getting things done. Most of the morning I spent on the computer, mid-day running errands in the car, and by afternoon I was outside cleaning our back deck. Learning to slow down, to pay attention. But what I’m also learning is that I am out of practice in listening and being attentive in this way. How do I let it get so bent out of shape? Today, I’m reminding myself to:. Try to be at peace with t...
