Hmmm Mathematica's usual Combinatorica package doesn't include functions to convert integer partitions to and from Frobenius notation. But this blog now does! This converts a partition in usual notation (unordered list of * nonnegative integers) to Frobenius notation. *) ToFrobenius[p:{ Integer? NonNegative}, { Integer? Popular with the ladies. Alexander was universally adored by the nurses (all of whom are women, most in their late 20s to 30’s). I don’t know if I hope or fear that he be that popular with girls when he’s older. He went through the whole thing very well. Even when he was sore from the surgery, groggy from anaesthesia, and with a raspy throat from having a respirator, he was much better than I expected. Today he’s pretty much back to normal. I'm still waiting to see exactly how it'll be useful, other than "not Facebook". Off to the US. It’s 5:21 in the morning and we are preparing to leave for our trip to the US. We are taking the train to Seoul, checking in for our flight at the train station (in central Seoul, 70 km from the airport! And then taking the special airport train out to Incheon. Sep 6th, 2005. Beer just appeared in my mailbox! Sober, for now. This is the best day of my life! A bottle of nice stout. Appeared in my mailbox today. I think it's one of the perks of being a sixth-year student. Now I can not-graduate in. The beer was courtesy of a fellow student in the department who brews his own beer and is quite the beer snob.
