Philip: My beef with Linux RAID
http://philipweaver.blogspot.com/2010/01/my-beef-with-linux-raid.html
Friday, January 29, 2010. My beef with Linux RAID. I have used software RAID. In Linux in the past, via mdadm. I believe it has resulted in lost data more times than it has saved me from losing data. I have since switched to ZFS. On FreeBSD) and have survived many situations that could have resulted in lost data. I'd like to be able to switch back to using Linux, so I have been doing some research on Linux RAID. Today I came across this article. Which contains the following text:. In ZFS, no problem!
Philip: Baby Food
http://philipweaver.blogspot.com/2010/01/baby-food.html
Friday, January 29, 2010. This is the time when Ada begins trying food. She has shown the signs that she is ready: sitting up, grabbing everything and putting it in her mouth, gagging; these skills develop simultaneously in babies. Also, she just turned 6 months old, which is a common time for breastfed babies to start trying food. This period is all about tasting. She eats very little. She plays with her food. This is baby-led weaning. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My beef with Linux RAID.

Baby Ada was born 7/23, 10:43 PDT. She weighed 6 lbs 14 oz and was 20.5 inches long. I think her head circumference was 13.5 inches. That caused her to come out all at once. At the beginning of the final push, all we could see was the hair on Ada's head, and then she came out all at once. Links to this post. I bou...

Sunday, September 27, 2009. When someone says they are 99% sure of something, they probably don't mean that. If they were 99% sure, then they would be willing to bet on it with 99-to-1 odds. That is, they'd be willing to bet $99 for the chance to win $1. Links to this post. References the Gambler's fallacy. Links to this post. Saturday, September 26, 2009. Spanking makes kids dumber. Thursday, June 03, 2010. This Borsch Took Over Six Months to Make. Our collection of vegetable scraps was taking over the freezer (it had been several months since I last made stock), and we had just received our first box of produce from our CSA, so it was time to make a soup. Last night I made the vegetable stock from the veggies in the freezer (see my previous post. Today I made the borsch. Of course there are a bazillion recipes for borsch. I checked with More-with-less. Links to this post.

Thursday, June 11, 2009. My terrible terrible memory. I seem to have a problem with long-term memory, short-term memory, and attention span. Here, let me provide a few examples:. I started boiling eggs, forgot about them, and then went to class. They exploded all over the kitchen before my roommate found them and turned them off. I frequently forget that I am making tea within seconds of starting, even if the tea is sitting right in front of me. It sometimes takes 30-60 minutes before I realize it. On th...

The Erwin Journey
Wednesday, October 4, 2017. Random to pop in today, after no posts for 26,000 days but I wrote this blog for a friend of mine's mommy-blog in the spring, and wanted to keep it for myself too. When we had our first baby, he continuously amazed us. Partly because he was ours, the first creation that we made together, and partly because he was the closest reflection to God that either of us had seen. We stared at him in admiration, and shouted at the rooftops to anyone who would listen! Then we had two.

Bhagavad Gita 1.32. The words of Krishna, the divine Self, to the seeking soul, Arjuna. Living Christ's Eucharist in Our Daily Lives
Living Christ's Eucharist in Our Daily Lives. Thursday, May 24, 2007. Greetings in the Interim. The last month has been a time of transition – from one job to another via a summer in yet another job, from one residence to another. So, I’ve not been blogging for a while. But I miss it and so will be back at it as soon as I can. The Lord’s faithfulness and kindness to me over these months has been constant, plentiful and unfailing. Pray always! Without him I – and we – can do nothing. Fr Ben Hawley, SJ.

Living the everyday life. A blog about the daily life of a working mom, trying to get organised. Dienstag, 31. Mai 2016. Flowers on the table to cheer me up. Today is my last day as stay-at-home-Mom. From tomorrow on I'll be a working-mom again. A new job, new colleagues, new routines. I am nervous, I have to admit! But it's good to be back at work, having a job and bring home some money. Hopefully things will work smoothly. (they never do! Keep your fingers crossed for me! Sonntag, 22. Mai 2016. Hello t...

Living the Expat Dream | A trailing spouse tripping through Asia
Living the Expat Dream. A trailing spouse tripping through Asia. Yoga: the heart of the MATter. I just spent 119 Singapore dollars on a yoga mat. Is that normal? The next one down was retailing at $60 while the more expensive option was selling for a whopping $170. To give some perspective, Giant down the road flogs yoga mats for a tenner. That’s quite a price differential for similar-looking rectangles of rollable sponge. So what gives? Sounds adorable, right? Just a shame the thing’s butt ugly a ...
