Living the Complicated Simple Life: I have not been quilting
http://livingtheso-calledsimplelife.blogspot.com/2014/05/i-have-not-been-quilting.html
Living the Complicated Simple Life -gardening, chickens, knitting, cooking, dreaming, and accordion playing. Thursday, May 29, 2014. I have not been quilting. I have not been quilting. I have not been knitting. I have not been practicing the accordion or the piano. I have no chickens so we don't have to worry about that one. Whew! I have been trying to keep my head above water, working on my novel and poetry/photo project about Labrador. The rest will seriously have to go hang for now. End and Begin Again.
Living the Complicated Simple Life: In the hoop
http://livingtheso-calledsimplelife.blogspot.com/2014/05/in-hoop.html
Living the Complicated Simple Life -gardening, chickens, knitting, cooking, dreaming, and accordion playing. Wednesday, May 14, 2014. This is the backing, taped to the floor, then I put the batting down and finally the quilt top. I basted it all together on the floor (arggh - my knees) and now I've got it in the hoop and ready to quilt. This part will take me a long time I fear as I am slow to teach my fingers how to do this. Living the Complicated Simple Life: the second quilt is pieced together...
http://livingtheso-calledsimplelife.blogspot.com/2014/05/the-second-quilt-is-pieced-together.html
Living the Complicated Simple Life -gardening, chickens, knitting, cooking, dreaming, and accordion playing. Saturday, May 10, 2014. The second quilt is pieced together. Quilt #2 is well on its way. It is from a quilt along on Stitched in Color. And is called a Penny Patch Quilt. It has been fun and fairly easy to do so far. I'm doing mine entirely by hand - no machines at all. People might say 'but doesn't that take a great deal of time? And well, yes, I suppose it does. What do I have lots of? To our A...

Dreaming with Rumi: Love Dogs
http://jan-morrison.blogspot.com/2011/01/love-dogs.html
A contemplation of the poems of Rumi. Friday, January 28, 2011. One night a man was crying,. His lips grew sweet with the praising,. Until a cynic said,. I have heard you. Calling out, but have you ever. The man had no answer for that. He quit praying and fell into a confused sleep. He dreamed he saw Khidr, the guide of souls,. In a thick, green foliage,. Why did you stop praising? 8220;Because I've never heard anything back.". This longing you express. Is the return message.". The grief you cry out from.

A contemplation of the poems of Rumi. Monday, April 4, 2011. The Music We Are. Did you hear that winter’s over? The basil and the carnations cannot control their. The nightingale, back from his wandering,. Has been made singing master over the birds. The trees reach out their congratulations. The soul goes dancing through the king’s doorway. Anemones blush because they have seen the rose naked. Spring, the only fair judge, walks in the courtroom,. And several December thieves steal away,. A feast is set.
Dreaming with Rumi: All Rivers at Once
http://jan-morrison.blogspot.com/2011/01/all-rivers-at-once.html
A contemplation of the poems of Rumi. Friday, January 14, 2011. All Rivers at Once. All Rivers at Once. Don't unstring the bow,. I am your four-feathered arrow. That has not been used yet. I am a strong knifeblade word,. I am sunlight slicing the dark. Who made this night? A forge deep in the earth-mud. What is the body? Let the beloved be a hat pulled down firmly on my head. Or drawstrings pulled and tied around my chest. Someone asks, How does love have hands and feet? Look at the colours of the world.
Dreaming with Rumi: All Rivers at Once contemplated
http://jan-morrison.blogspot.com/2011/01/all-rivers-at-once-contemplated.html
A contemplation of the poems of Rumi. Saturday, January 15, 2011. All Rivers at Once contemplated. As if that were it. As if I could read it several times and then I would be done with it. I want to share with all my readers - what it is nobody? Well then, nobody - sit down! This poem - All Rivers at Once. Don't unstring the bow - Yes! Don't even think of stopping the hunt. You who are weary of chasing after what? January 21, 2011 at 10:45 AM. January 24, 2011 at 4:45 AM. And it is dedicated to my writin...

Dreaming with Rumi: The Guest House
http://jan-morrison.blogspot.com/2011/01/guest-house.html
A contemplation of the poems of Rumi. Thursday, January 27, 2011. This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness,. Some momentary awareness comes. As an unexpected visitor. Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they're a crowd of sorrows,. Who violently sweep your house. Empty of its furniture,. Still treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out. For some new delight. The dark thought, the shame, the malice,. Meet them at the door laughing,.
Dreaming with Rumi: March 2011
http://jan-morrison.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html
A contemplation of the poems of Rumi. Friday, March 11, 2011. Your grief for what you've lost holds a mirror. Up to where you're bravely working. Expecting the worst, you look and instead,. Here's the joyful face you've been wanting to see. Your hand opens and closes and opens and closes. If it were always a fist or always stretched open,. You would be paralyzed. Your deepest presence is in every small contracting and expand. The two as beautifully balanced and coordinated. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Dreaming with Rumi: The Sunrise Ruby
http://jan-morrison.blogspot.com/2011/01/sunrise-ruby.html
A contemplation of the poems of Rumi. Monday, January 24, 2011. In the early morning hour,. Just before dawn, lover and beloved wake. And take a drink of water. She asks, "Do you love me or yourself more? Really, tell the absolute truth.". He says, "There's nothing left of. I'm like a ruby held up to the sunrise. Is it still a stone, or a world. It has no resistance. This how Hallaj said,. And told the truth! The ruby and the sunrise are one. Be courageous and discipline yourself. Water is there somewhere.
