Living with Chaos

Monday, December 17, 2012. Handmade soap without the work! I've shown you how to make your own soap. And I know it looks kind of fun, and the end result would be oh, so lovely, but really, you just aren't sure about turning your kitchen into a science lab. Right? Well, I've branched out from making soap only for our family and made enough soap to bathe a daycare center, for a month. I want to share our soap with others while helping provide for our family at the same time. Links to this post. 1 1/2 lbs&#...

Living with Chaos: Rothenburg, Germany

http://livingwithchaos.blogspot.com/2011/08/rothenburg-germany.html

Tuesday, August 23, 2011. The historic district of town is surrounded by the old town wall. Cars aren't allowed within the historic district unless you live there or you are a hotel guest. You can walk up the towers to the top of the wall and then walk around the entire city. A bit dark and creepy in some spots but really cool. I just loved all the German houses and shops all lined up. August 23, 2011 at 4:00 PM. Love the pictures, hope you having a great time. Stay safe, Love you Mom. I started this blo...

Living with Chaos: Happy Birthday, Emily

http://livingwithchaos.blogspot.com/2012/02/happy-birthday-emily.html

Friday, February 24, 2012. Happy Birthday, Emily. It just seems impossible that she is 12. My memory is still quite vivid of willing this stubborn child out of my womb at a week overdue. How can it be that it was already 12 years ago? Emily is a fighter. Emily is an overachiever. Emily is a perfectionist. Emily will not take "no" as an answer. Emily is a cheerful giver. Emily loves the Lord. Today is for Emily and celebrating her. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). One photo, every day. I have a wonderf...

Living with Chaos: Halloween 2011

http://livingwithchaos.blogspot.com/2011/10/halloween-2011.html

Monday, October 31, 2011. The finishing touches were put on the gladiator boots today and the pattern pieces were finally folded and tucked back into their proper envelopes; another costume sewing season has come to a close. And, I am thrilled. This year's costumes were fairly time consuming and I decided to take a 2 week break in October to take the kids to Virginia so I really felt under the gun to get the last costume finished on time. And then, after all that, the most commented costume of the night?

Living with Chaos: Making Homemade Soap

http://livingwithchaos.blogspot.com/2011/02/making-homemade-soap.html

Wednesday, February 23, 2011. A couple of years ago I started making my own laundry soap. Then I stumbled across a video at GNOWFGLINS. On how to make your own bar soap and it started my internet research (about the only kind of research I do) on exactly why it would be better for me to play Dr. Soap in the kitchen rather than pick up a 12 pack of Dove soap from Sam's Club. Here are the basics:. Pretty cool, right? I purchased my first supplies from the The Soap Dish. No affiliation, no money, mkay FTC.

Five, Six... Pick up sticks: April 2010

http://lovejourneytochina.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 20, 2010. Links to this post. Monday, April 19, 2010. Four weeks after starting school I got a phone call that really should have been made much earlier. The school district had to test Claire's proficiency in English so they can offer services if they are needed. I was welcomed to attend so I did. I made sure that declining services now wouldn't affect the possibility of needing ESL services in the future. So, if our school does get an ESL program in the future we can have Claire star...

Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Older Child Chronicles: Part 3. What can happen at and after Gotcha. I had read many, many stories of other adoptions before traveling. Just when I thought I'd read enough, I'd read more. I knew the children being adopted would most likely be shut down when you first meet them. I knew that nearly all children cry, some even hitting, kicking and screaming. And then it happened. I felt so wrong, like we were not doing the right thing, like we just kidnapped a child. I que...

Five, Six... Pick up sticks: April 2011

http://lovejourneytochina.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html

Monday, April 11, 2011. Overdue for an update. Let's see, Claire has been home now for almost 15 months. What is it like around our house? First, let's start with all the good stuff. S are fantastic. I would recommend those to everyone! So what time would that be? Telling the time isn't hard for her but the earlier and later part really mess her up. She had to learn what earlier and later meant just to understand the problem. As her vocabulary grows she should grasp these concepts easier. I am certain th...

http://lovejourneytochina.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html

Friday, January 28, 2011. A video to take you through our first year with Claire. It is unbelievable to me that today marks one full year that we have had Claire as our daughter. The past year has gone by so incredibly fast compared to the nine months we waited for her. I initially made this video for Claire; to capture her first year with us, from her first minutes through all of her firsts. After working on this video for several hours it became therapeutic for me,. Links to this post. I have a wonderf...

Five, Six... Pick up sticks: Laundry

http://lovejourneytochina.blogspot.com/2010/02/laundry.html

Monday, February 1, 2010. This how we do our laundry. This is how we do our laundry,. The hotels laundry service is outrageously expensive- over $8 per pair of pants.  Catherine found us a laundry shop within walking distance so we dropped off 4 pairs of pants and one shirt at that place for the same price but it will take 4 days.  So, to cut down on expense and not being able to send everything out or wed have nothing to wear we did a bathtub load of laundry. The Bingham's: Mr. Accident

http://jeffaliciabingham.blogspot.com/2009/04/mr-accident.html

The most important thing a father can do for his children is to love their mother. Thursday, April 9, 2009. Dylan has become quite the little accident prone child. In the last to weeks we have went through a whole box of band-aids and created havoc on the face. The first accident happened while jumping on the trampoline at his cousins house. Some how he fell and put his teeth completely through his upper lip. He instantly had a fat lip and a black bruise on his chin. What can I say, boys will be boys!

Five, Six... Pick up sticks: May 2010

http://lovejourneytochina.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

Friday, May 28, 2010. And now, four months later this is what we see. No more fear, no more sadness, her anxiety of being abandoned is starting to diminish, she's speaking nearly fluent English, and she's even beginning to read! Her face looks much happier now, almost relaxed in way. Do we still see some grief? Yes, but it's getting more and more rare that she cries for her China family. Claire has a huge amount of anxiety when it comes to doctors or dentists. It took us 20 minutes just to get her to...

Living with cheese curls. Saturday, March 23, 2013. Well according to my blog it says August was my last post. That can't be right! Where on earth does time go? I used to think that summer was a busy time. Then fall began to trump that. But I've decided that with three kids all involved in different things that all year is a busy time. To tell you the truth we wouldn't change a thing. Here's a peek of what's been keeping us so busy. Spring made it's official arrival this week. You wouldn't know it by...
