Tuesday, 7 August 2012. Big day for La. Yesterday was a challenge because La's birthday has to be approached with great sensitivity. Over the years we have underplayed it too much and more often, overplayed the day with upsetting results for poor old La. This year we gave her birthday kisses and cuddles and 2 gifts before she sent on her way to her usual routine and as soon as she was out of the door, the frenzied planning and cooking began to prepare a surprise party for her and seven nearest and dearest.

Tuesday, August 24, 2010. And in an instant. My life changed forever. Saturday, July 31, 2010. I still can't believe it but we are leaving on August 11th! I am still sort of in shock that it has all happened so fast but we are scheduled to be on a plane to China (via Detroit) on August 11th! We will return August 29th! So much to do. Wednesday, July 7, 2010. Wow We thought our dossier was a lot of paperwork - I never expected to have so much paperwork for LOA and travel! PA on the 24th, LOA on the 2nd!

One of the biggest disturbances on the internet is lag. It is often associated with a slow internet connection, usually resulting in delays, buffering, pixels and frozen screens. Unfortunately, many have accepted lag as a part of their everyday lives, mainly because they don’t know that there actually is another option. For example, 1000 Mbit/s lag-free broadband via fiber from ume.net. To demonstrate this, we performed an experiment. During two days, we let four volunteers live with lag, in real life.
