April 12, 1966. At the monthly meeting, the Fire Department voted to purchase an ambulance (a red Ford station wagon) formerly owned and operated by Grant Clements. The Squad started operating with 33 members at the end of April. May 29, 1966. A First Aid class was to begin at the Livonia Fire House. The Livonia Ambulance Squad was formed in 1966 as part of the Livonia Fire Department; we have proudly served the citizens of our community for almost 50 years. We have over fifty members, drivers, EMTs and Paramedics who provide pre-hospital emergency medical care 24 hours a day/7 days a week.
