Not All Who Wander Are Lost: Kampuchea
http://lizbayer.blogspot.com/2010/06/kampuchea.html
Not All Who Wander Are Lost. Wednesday, June 16, 2010. Well, this blog has lain dormant for sometime. Actually, it was almost one year ago exactly that I left Nigeria, and it's been quite a year. Without going into that too much, suffice it to say that my wanderlust is back, and I'm itching to see the world again. As a cure for this persistent malady, I have signed myself up for a 7 week study program in Cambodia. Why Cambodia, you ask? Well, to be honest, the answer comes back to, well, why not Cambodia?

Not All Who Wander Are Lost. Sunday, June 27, 2010. Saturday, June 26, 2010. Siem Reap: Or How I Puked At a UN World Heritage Site. Alright, well, I am clearly failing as a travel blogger these days. A lot has happened since my first (and only) post almost 2 weeks ago. In an attempt to keep this post from becoming a novel, I’ll split it up into a couple different posts. And he does a lot of mapping and analyzing of the Angkor region and temples. Pictures to follow when I get good internet. Hot, Hot, Hot.

It’s also my absolute most favorite Hausa word, and I love to say it all the time. A couple of the patients enjoying my Hausa skills. Me reviewing the patient files for the absentee study. Me visiting with patients in the men's post-op ward. I'm a senior at Americ...

THE BUCCANEERS OF AMERICA(N UNIVERSITY). Comprising a Pertinent and Truthful description of the principal Acts of Research and Writing on the subject of representations of Pyrates. Thursday, January 28, 2010. IV Interlude: What about the social sciences? I think that this is getting a bit unwieldy - unsurprising considering how many directions we've gone toward.). And, yeah, it is. Massively unwieldy. I'll also maintain it's been a much more productive/educational use of my study time than most o...Also,...

THE BUCCANEERS OF AMERICA(N UNIVERSITY). Comprising a Pertinent and Truthful description of the principal Acts of Research and Writing on the subject of representations of Pyrates. Thursday, January 28, 2010. III and Einstein doesn't help. 1 Evolutionary biology does give us predictions which we're able to test (for example, what we've just found out about the Y chromosome). 2 The God of the gaps is one of the most common apologist ways to get religion back into line with science, and it never works.

THE BUCCANEERS OF AMERICA(N UNIVERSITY). Comprising a Pertinent and Truthful description of the principal Acts of Research and Writing on the subject of representations of Pyrates. Thursday, January 28, 2010. V How do we define "religion"? Yeah, everyone wants to have Einstein on their side. (WWED? Why go through all this work rather than just marginalizing the fundamentalists and excluding them from conversations entirely? As for defining religion, I don’t think you’re ever going to arrive a...Has a han...

Thursday, January 28, 2010. VIII Some olive branches and an end. The truism that people don't always act in their own best interest and use language imprecisely? Thursday, January 28, 2010. VII What is language? Thursday, January 28, 2010. II Religion and science are not unproblematic . Why work harder to get the jump on quickly mutating viruses? Why develop better genetic tests for life-threatening diseases? I agree that God isn't necessary to fill in the gaps of human knowledge. (But I kind of suspect that's not how many contemp...

Not All Who Wander Are Lost
Not All Who Wander Are Lost. Tuesday, July 6, 2010. After leaving Siem Reap, we drove the 5 or 6 hours to Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s capital city. We’ll be spending the rest of the program here, and the first three weeks will be with a homestay family, and the group will move back to a guesthouse together for the last two weeks of the program. After a week in Phnom Penh, two girls from my program, Nita and Angela, and I decided to escape the city and head to beach! More on that next time…. Hot, Hot, Hot.
