Liz's Mildly Deep Thinking. Thursday, 15 December 2011. Dave, Heather, Connie and Stacy, Ann, Cindy and Bill all presented tonight. Lots of great things being tried out with our teachers and administrators. It was neat to see a principal's perspective when working with their students and their reasoning for choosing the students they did. I had not ever seen HyperStudio 5 before. I am definitely going to check it out! There was an error in this gadget. Simple theme. Theme images by luoman.

Liz's Mildly Deep Thinking. Thursday, 15 December 2011. Tonight Barb was gracious enough to give us time to work with our groups on the compensatory strategy we are looking at for Reading. My group was checking out the amazing Kurzweil. We broke it up into it's components and each looked at a different piece of what Kurzweil can do. Check out our blog about Krazy Kurzweil at. Liz's Mildly Deep Thinking...: Class Five

http://lizcorkum.blogspot.com/2011/11/class-five.html

Liz's Mildly Deep Thinking. Tuesday, 15 November 2011. Another cool thing learned tonight. The iPod/iPad has this upgrade callled IOS5 built into it that will read anything from the internet. To use this, you have to sync and upgrade to IOS5. Then you go into your settings on the iPod/iPad. From there go into the General setting, accesibility, speak selection and turn this on. You can also adjust the rate at which it is being read. I believe I'll be singing our jingle for a while to come.

Dave's Assistive Technology Blog: Class # 5

http://o-quinn.blogspot.com/2011/10/class-5.html

Dave's Assistive Technology Blog. Tuesday, 25 October 2011. Tonight we spent much of the class learning how to use ReelDirector. ReelDirector is an app that is easy to use and great for managing and editing video clips. This app would be an excellent way for students to explain, present and illustrate their learning. This is a great app for reluctant writers. This is also a great tool to promote cooperative learning in the classroom. There are endless possibilities for this app. Assistive Tech Class #3.

Kathryn's Blog: Web literacy

http://kathryn5163.blogspot.com/2011/11/web-literacy.html

Monday, November 7, 2011. After class I did some more searching around on the web and I found that just like Apps there are also a gazillion literacy websites out there. After spending over one hour playing around I settled on three great interactive sites. Some of these I could even use with the junior high students. Check them out, I had a lot of fun so I am sure your will too. Here are just three of the many websites out there:. Http:/ www.theclassroomkit.coml/. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Sunday, October 30, 2011. You will not be able to watch our infomercial, I do not feel comfortable having our video on YouTube. This week I also watched 2 webinars, one on Apps for reluctant readers and the other on Apps for reluctant writers. It was very useful to learn about the many Apps available and what they can be used for. I will have to spend the next few days trying out some of these Apps and discover how I could use some of them in my grade 8 and 9 Social Studies classes. See the image below t...

http://billbruhm.blogspot.com/2011/10/reading-process.html

Monday, 10 October 2011. It is certainly is amazing how we learn to read, that we learn to read, and certainly understand more fully how the process can break down in some many places. This makes the case even stronger for the use of AT to compensate for the lack of ability to develop fully the ability to read and comprehend fluently. 11 October 2011 at 18:02. Tonight the members of the class shared their task analysis charts showing the development of the reading process. Each pair had something different to it, and yet the common threads were there including executive functioning, memory, the difficulty of the task, and how amazing that it is that so many of our students are able to read without adaptations and compensations.
