Amanda Creative Arts: May 2014
http://www.amanda-creativearts.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Saturday, May 10, 2014. Farewell and thank you Emily. At the beginning of last year a lovely young lady, called Emily, began volunteering at Sussex Neighbourhood House. Over the past year and a bit Em has been a wonderful support to myself and the artists in Creative Kids, Kids Shed, Mixed Media and Kids Create. Today was all about Em, gathering memories and farewelling a good friend. Cards and a banner for Em were made. Although there was a lot of giggling. Cards were given and many a hug. It was great ...

Saturday, August 17, 2013. Soft and sparkly friendship. With International Friendship Day a sleep away (on the 4th August) it seemed like a good time to create for our friends. With friends in mind the Creative Kids selected one friend to create a yarned letter for. The first letter of each friend's name was formed out of pipe-cleaners. Thought was constantly given to friends favourite colours. Some were made for sisters,. One artist created an 'A' for me,. Some friends are from school. Links to this post.

Saturday, March 23, 2013. The final week of term 1 for the Creative Kids and time to finish off our clay fairies for the alters. With acyclic paint these two fairy sisters look very colourful. The CKs did well starting to mix their own colours to achieve what they wanted. A big thank you to the Scallywags Children's Centre who gave us some art materials. The little papier mache houses were a big hit – along with buttons and beads. What emerged, guided by one imaginative CK, were little fairy houses.

Saturday, October 12, 2013. Wearable Art Kids Shed style. An idea is formed out of the materials for Kids Shed term 4. Adjusting preferred art styles in wearable art. The artists headed away today to think about it. Emily you are such a good sport! Links to this post. Creative Arts tell vibrant stories. With all these stories in mind we worked with watercolours to create our own stories of Spring. The group have not worked with this medium before (with me). A bird and a butterfly meet on a spring day.

Saturday, November 22, 2014. Sharing our creative making. Another week at Kids Create. We had a couple of artists away and a couple return. I also realised that it is not the whole of Kids Create without ALL of us posting - myself and my wonderful volunteers included - so we all now have our artist names (well nearly all of us, Noah will tell us his next week, when he returns). Here is what we have been up to. Miss Maker shares :. Some of her work from today - there was more! Mini Magpie shares :. Little...
Amanda Creative Arts: April 2015
http://www.amanda-creativearts.com/2015_04_01_archive.html
Monday, April 13, 2015. Term 1, 2015, at Kids Create focused on the topic 'STORY'. We started with free painting to music. As the artists put paint to paper, Noah and I responded to their marks and actions through beats and chords. Words and images from magazines were then added. Stories started to form. These works (or parts of) became potential inspiration for projects that were to follow. The 'map' for a video game. Part of this work was about the artist's dog. In the weeks that followed:. We each sel...

Amanda Creative Arts: September 2014

Saturday, September 20, 2014. Bringing together - together. Before I post what we did in Kids Create in term 3, I really feel I need to finish speaking about term 2. So here goes - this is how 'together' came together. The tablecloth became common ground. Collaged fabric swatches represented individuality. I invited the artists to collage an image of themselves. This could be as literal or abstract as they liked. It was a great way for us to get to know more about each other. V made outfits for everyone.
Amanda Creative Arts: June 2014
http://www.amanda-creativearts.com/2014_06_01_archive.html
Monday, June 9, 2014. On the 17th of May, Sussex Neighbourhood House. Was a buzz of activity. The Kids Create artists had been invited by The MIECAT Institute. MIECAT donated the suitcases as well as a few materials found hiding inside. V really liked the netting! It is always good to try out the qualities of the materials before working with it. It flowed beautifully as she danced around the room. Coming to rest she decided it was like a waterfall. Her case was soon cascading. She even had a check list.

Tuesday, 17 June 2014. Before and After: The Kitchen. I love the result. It's such a useful space; I wouldn't change a thing. Posted by liz evans. Thursday, 12 June 2014. First Cherries of the Season. There is a woman who sells freshly picked, local, organic cherries from a little wheeled cart in Canterbury. I see her every summer. Though, this is the first time I have purchased any from her. They looked amazing. I couldn't help myself. I was so glad I did. They were, in fact, amazing. Posted by liz evans.
