Liz George | Traditional African Theme Garments
Welcome to Liz George. Contemporary African Fabric Design. Liz uses typical African motifs to create her designs. These include Ashanti gold weight motifs, Adinkra symbols, Nsibidi writing and Arabic calligraphy. Some are used purely for aesthetic reasons while others for their interesting symbolic meanings. The Ashanti gold weights were used to measure gold dust which was the currency of Ghana in the 18th Century. They were made of brass and their patterns and shapes varied as did their meanings.
