The bits that are too long: January 2010

http://www.lizslongbits.blogspot.com/2010_01_01_archive.html

The bits that are too long. View my complete profile. Sunday, 24 January 2010. It was Tuesday the 14th of May. I know that for sure because I wrote it on the calendar. I’m not very good at remembering dates so I wrote it down. I knew that one day somebody would ask me, when did you meet the angel? I knew somebody would ask that, the same way that I knew it was an angel. That’s another question people always ask, how did you know it was an angel? I said, “You’re an angel aren’t you? 8221; I asked. But the...

The bits that are too long. View my complete profile. Saturday, 28 February 2009. But that’s no excuse I know; excuses are meaningless. I could say that I suspected he visited the local women of the night; that he rarely shared my bed; that he often came home smelling of sickly perfume, not the perfume I used; that other women looked down on me pityingly. I could say all of that. But I said I wasn’t going to make excuses. I was guilty. Guilty of the crime. For they will surely kill me! My shoulders sagge...

The bits that are too long. Twenty-second May, 2001. View my complete profile. Tuesday, 13 July 2010. Twenty-second May, 2001. My mother would have been eighty today. I only realise this sitting in college listening to a reading. The poet, a tiny American professor, is speaking. Of her mother’s seventieth birthday. I don’t recall the poem. Earlier the same day my son calls. His sister has told him to, he says. She’s worried because I’m sad. Tangled threads, twisted together. Hidden in a knot.

The bits that are too long. View my complete profile. Wednesday, 3 February 2010. Thank God for his gift of the Holy Spirit who gave me the courage to get out of bed this morning. Thank God for quashing the unknowable fears that overtake my mind at the prospect of a trip to the supermarket. Thank Jesus that his name, silently mouthed in the frozen foods aisle, is a refuge from terror which threatens. Thank God for the victories of the day, small, insignificant though they appear, they made the difference.

The bits that are too long: October 2009

http://www.lizslongbits.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

The bits that are too long. View my complete profile. Sunday, 25 October 2009. God, I am miserable and broken-hearted. I want to get drunk. My thoughts are racing. I feel frustrated, confused and anxious. I’m knackered and impatient. I want to find understanding. But I’m apathetic and skint. I’m pondering, searching, wondering. I’m hopeful … and sorrowful. Have you forgiven me yet, God? Where did it all go wrong? Get me out of here! Prove that you can make things real;. Prove that you are God.

Finding life hard?: I blame Mary Berry AND Paul Hollywood

http://liz-and-harvey.blogspot.com/2015/07/i-blame-mary-berry-and-paul-hollywood.html

The thoughts of me and my dog who used to be Harvey, but is now George, who is Harvey's great-great-great-great-nephew. Sunday, July 12, 2015. I blame Mary Berry AND Paul Hollywood. I should have twigged when the woman in the cake decorating shop looked at me blankly when I asked for acetate. 'It's what they recommend on the internet for chocolate lace,' I explained. I called him back and he told me Uncle had fallen in his living-room and was waiting for an ambulance. So instead of spending the afternoon...

Finding life hard?

http://liz-and-harvey.blogspot.com/index.html

The thoughts of me and my dog who used to be Harvey, but is now George, who is Harvey's great-great-great-great-nephew. Thursday, August 18, 2016. The little white box that beeped. Visited Uncle today. He has a friend staying and she wanted to use the washing machine but couldn't get it to work. (Uncle's cleaner usually takes his washing home to do for him.) So it was a job for SuperHusband. An electrician who'd called in the day before to fix the fridge hadn't been able to trace the fault and had sugges...

Finding life hard?: Cricket-eating, sand-sculpting and ice cream

http://liz-and-harvey.blogspot.com/2015/07/cricket-eating-sand-sculpting-and-ice.html

The thoughts of me and my dog who used to be Harvey, but is now George, who is Harvey's great-great-great-great-nephew. Friday, July 24, 2015. Cricket-eating, sand-sculpting and ice cream. Afterwards one of the young women present said, 'I always enjoy it when you lead as you're so relaxed and it's calm.'. I looked behind me to see who she was talking to. Wednesday I took two grandchildren along to Sculpture by the Sea. A free workshop on the beach. I was in my element - and did most of the work - bu...

The thoughts of me and my dog who used to be Harvey, but is now George, who is Harvey's great-great-great-great-nephew. Saturday, June 27, 2015. What we did for our anniversary. So Husband offered to take me away for our anniversary. Better late than never. For our 25th he was off playing with the marines; on our 30th he was away on another fun-filled adventure trip. But now he's retired he had no excuse . Myself at Falcondale Hotel. Our walk took us past this bay. It was a battle to get down what passed...

Finding life hard?: May 2015

The thoughts of me and my dog who used to be Harvey, but is now George, who is Harvey's great-great-great-great-nephew. Sunday, May 31, 2015. Walking up the steps today I felt a little lacksadaisical. As I said it to myself I stopped. Is it lacksadaisical or lackadaisical? Blogger thinks it's the latter as it picks the extra s up as a spelling mistake. And that was the conclusion I'd come to as well although at the moment of saying it lacksa felt more apt in some strange way. I know but I don't like any ...

The thoughts of me and my dog who used to be Harvey, but is now George, who is Harvey's great-great-great-great-nephew. Friday, July 17, 2015. I did used to have a brain really I did. So I'm in the Civic Centre and I need to get to the second floor. I walk to the lifts and go to press the button when I stop: which button do I press? Now that's not as stupid as it sounds*, trust me. The choice looked liked this:. I was on the ground floor so where was the up button? Okay, possibly it is. If you had gone t...

The thoughts of me and my dog who used to be Harvey, but is now George, who is Harvey's great-great-great-great-nephew. Tuesday, July 14, 2015. The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir who got Trapped in an Ikea Wardrobe. Two quick book recommendations. After a couple of duff ones from the library I hit lucky again. The thoughts of me and my dog who used to be Harvey, but is now George, who is Harvey's great-great-great-great-nephew. Wednesday, April 29, 2015. The Other Woman causes another argument. I set the sat nav all by myself and it got me to the right place! I couldn't wait to tell Husband as soon as I got in through the door. Well done.' He patted me on the shoulder. Although she's either a dozy bint or she's in the pay of an oil company because she sent me on two completely unnecessary detours.'. Eden Hazar...

The thoughts of me and my dog who used to be Harvey, but is now George, who is Harvey's great-great-great-great-nephew. Monday, August 10, 2015. Last night I started reading The Spectacle Salesman's Family. I have a feeling I might have tried before and I suspect I will give up fairly quickly this time too. Not because of the story: I think I would enjoy it. No, I'll give up because of the writing style. Maybe Ive missed something, but where are you going for your holiday? Just a question I know you can ...

The thoughts of me and my dog who used to be Harvey, but is now George, who is Harvey's great-great-great-great-nephew. Wednesday, January 28, 2015. Had to go on a photo shoot this afternoon. Me and a load of old boots. I feared I was setting myself up for a punchline. As it turned out the old boots were less worn than I am. Pete also wanted a quote for the press release so here's what I said:. 8220;Foot problems are common amongst rough sleepers because, in wet weather, they have no facilities to dry th...

Liz's Lovelies

Painted by Liz Miller. Wednesday, September 11, 2013. BOOk cover by LIZ. Tuesday, September 7, 2010. Crochet, wool felt, ribbon, and a button. I crocheted the flower and clued a button to the center. The stem and leaf are cut from the wool felt I knitted. Lavender made from tied ribbon pieces and glued to the stem. This idea I saw in the paper crafts Sept. issue. It's fun doing different things to make the flowers. Saturday, August 21, 2010. Thursday, August 19, 2010. Thursday, August 5, 2010. The leaves...
