Monthly Archives: November 2016. November 26, 2016 · 12:37 am. I knew that one day I would visit China. At least I hoped that the opportunity would arise soon. In that span of time China has changed, tremendously. It no longer is the China of their youth. I wanted to see China before it became totally unrecognizable from the days of my parents and grandparents. The time came this Autumn. Encounter 1: 9 pm Walking along Wangfujing Street. Encounter 2: Wangfujing Night Snack Street. As I stood admiring the...

Monthly Archives: January 2017. January 27, 2017 · 6:33 pm. Voices surround our everyday. Verbal, vocal, virtual, intellectual, political….Voices, voices, voices. So many voices saying such and such, telling this and that, directing here and there. Cac….cac…cac…. CACOPHONOUS! Who are we to listen to? The voice of the Lord is over the waters;. The God of glory thunders,. The Lord thunders over the mighty waters. The voice of the Lord is powerful;. The voice of the Lord is majestic. Lately one particular v...
CHANG’AN | Liz's Muses

December 5, 2016 · 6:25 pm. Truth be told, apart from it being the beginning of the Silk Road on the east side, and the discovery of the Terra Cotta Warriors, I hardly knew anything about Xian before we went to China. I had not even known that its original name was Chang’an ( Eternal City ), that it was one of four great ancient capitals of China, or that the name of its province is Shaanxi. Duh! A friend had encouraged us to take the high speed train. Thankfully, we were in Xian for only two nights.

Monthly Archives: December 2016. December 13, 2016 · 11:21 pm. We had apparently arrived in this land of Sweet Osmanthus a tad late, just missing the glorious blossoms of this city’s namesake as well as the stunning vistas of rice harvest season in Longshen county. Bummer! But first, the saga of our hotel room. It seems we had been ‘upgraded’ to a room with a balcony view overlooking the lake. Woo hoo! But the sliding balcony door had no lock, only a latch, wide enough for any hand to unlatch! Before ali...

Monthly Archives: July 2016. July 20, 2016 · 4:57 pm. We went for a walk. My quite newly minted. Birthday-sharing friend and I. The biker gave up her ride. Wowed me instead with a hike. Never heard of it. said I. Where have you been? Through hill and dale. And creek she regaled. Of cycling here, there,. Of Rock split by ice. Smoothening thick bison winter hair. Of hungry goats weeding. We saw bridges wooden. We stopped for a bite. I played supermarket guide. Pointing out edibles alien. Our heads in wonder.

Liz Smith's Ceramics
A blog about large projects that I like to work on occasionally outside of my regular studio practice! Thursday, June 19, 2014. No pain.no gain. It is hard to believe that I haven't posted an update in two weeks only because the summer seems to be going so fast and this project has been moving at a snails pace. Almost all of last two weeks was spent simply waiting. I was waiting for my new mold to dry and waiting for the vibration table to be finished. I am all ears and would love the help! Week number f...

Me – Elizabeth Smith a Bush Kid through and through. Well I handed in my Assignment yesterday. WOOHOO Party YAy for me. What I can say is that this course has been an exhausting drain. It is like five subjects piled into one and it even made me contemplate why I am even bothering doing uni at all. However, It did make me proactive in finding sights that I can use in my teaching journey. These are a few that I have now added to my favorites bar and will be extensively used. Goodbye and Goodluck Everyone.

January 10, 2017 · 11:06 pm. Looking out my window. I almost burst into tears. Iced to perfection. The landscape this January morning takes my breath away. God indeed has put topping on everything outside. Snow-studded spectacular. A dad pulls his kids up the slope. Anticipation builds. Their little hearts just about bursting to contain the thrill of cold play. A knee-bend, a gentle strong push and away they go. Simple joys of free family fun. The wintered backyard is well used. Tiny as dust specks.

a day in the life
A day in the life. Insuring your crap since 2004. Oct 13th, 2013. I would like to note that i feel extremely. Silly for doing this. i have always been of the mindset that if i didn't want everyone to be able to read what i was typin', then why put it on the internet? However, i have been getting more introspective lately and am a little nervous about who might run across this. I have been reading dooce.com. And she talks about how she got fired from her job. Anyway, comment to be added. or whatevs. We pr...
