Sunday, December 9, 2007. 8220;Cognitive learning environments focus on helping students encode information meaningfully to long-term memory so that it can be easily retrieved.” Getting students to “retrieve” previously learned material has always been something that frustrates me. More so in the lower level classes, students can’t seem to remember concepts they have learned in previous years, semesters, and weeks! 8221;, I will get something other than blank stares in return. Being born in 1981, I fall under the Net-Generation umbrella. In reading the Digital Citizenship norms in this article I feel in general they are timeless. Sunday, March 29, 2009. This blog entry is in reference to Salon Five where we discussed the article "Are Free Tools Worth the Price" from Teaching and Leading with Technology, November, 2008, p. 8-9. 8220;Are Free Web Tools Worth the Price? The benefits of free web 2.0 tools far outnumber any problems that may arise from using them. It is a good way to model problem solving techniques to students. Lists about a dozen reasons why educators should “be the trailblazers of these tools”. The three that I fee...

Liz: Educational Revolution

http://www.lizspiegel.blogspot.com/2008/03/educational-revolution.html

Saturday, March 8, 2008. Kind of made me feel like I am in the inside loop reguarding changes that are expected to happen in education in the next 5 years. If it weren’t for TEAM I would not know about a lot of these technologies that the article referred to. This alone makes me skeptical that they will “significantly impact education over the next five years”. I don’t feel that enough people are fluent in these technologies that they will provide much of an impact. March 15, 2008 at 3:06 AM. Hello This ...

Monday, April 20, 2009. Free Web 2.0 Tools? Are free tools worth the price? Free tools are definitely worth the price and should be used and brought into the classroom. Here are a few reasons:. They provide an opportunity to enhance collaborations. Creates a digital classroom. Meaningful to students lives, as they learn for their unknown futures. Teaches leadership and responsibility (global citizenship). Teachers need to practice, be patient and engage in lifelong learning. Friday, April 17, 2009. Not o...

Sunday, December 9, 2007. Cognitive learning environments focus on helping students encode information meaningfully to long-term memory so that it can be easily retrieved. Not only does this help the students, as they construct their own knowledge, but it helps the teacher. Those students, who perhaps, don't have the appropriate prior knowledge for the current topic would be given an opportunity to correct that. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.

Sunday, March 9, 2008. Will technologies shape Education in 2008? Technology will assist in shaping education in 2008. In TEAM alone, we use the tools which are considered "social operating systems" or social networking. Now that I am familiar with social bookmarking, I truly appreciate the fact that it is used to organize work and show others what work we engage in and leaves a trail behind of our current lives. Tuesday, May 26, 2009. It is such a pleasure to see again the eagerness of a future classroom teacher. So quickly is the eagerness put aside when the reality of such a position is or has been secured. Try to always keep to your beliefs of what you believe to be - what the kids needs are. Your inner feelings on this will guide you through the tough times ahead. I wish you the very best in your career and in all that you do. May 28, 2009 at 7:48 AM. May 28, 2009 at 9:05 AM. Sunday, February 10, 2008. This response is geared toward the secondary level*. But how is that possible? The teacher isn't responsible for my actions, whether I decide to engage fully or not. Saying that, to better prepare students today, I think as teachers we have a really big role in that. Of course students are contributors to their own success and self-regulation to feel better prepared. But there are things the teacher can do to assist students. Finally, the third thing teachers can do is to ask q...

Friday, September 14, 2007. What I hope to Learn. When I first heard about this program from a colleague of mine in the QC Program, I was eager to learn all about it. Since the "interview" with this program I was amazed at how many resources are available to educators. My student teaching expeirence definitely lacked the technology portion. Of course I used PowerPoint and SmartBoard, but I am looking forward to learning about other ways to integrate technology into the classroom. View my complete profile.

He is a full blooded alligator/red nose pit bull. He was 10 weeks old when we got him, so that means he is 11 weeks now. This puppy is so cute, during the day he loves to play with Patrick. Wednesday, July 9, 2014. Pin 215: Watermelon Sticks. My boys LOVE watermelon. We found a cute seedless one at the store that they begged for. I gave in. Today, when I was getting dinner ready, I decided to cut it up for them to snack on. I started by cutting the melon in half. That part wasn't too hard. It was step two I was more worried about. I was certain I'd end up with quite a few odd sized pieces and waste a lot of the melon. More than 24 sticks. These packed up easily into a large storage containe...
