Come to your Senses - Sensory Modulation within an Occupational Therapy practice. Saturday, September 4, 2010. Article in Nursing Review journal re seclusion and sensory modulation. This article (link below) discusses the use of sensory modulation within a mental health unit with the idea of reducing the need for seclusion for clients. Come to your Senses - Sensory Modulation within an Occupational Therapy practice. Tuesday, August 24, 2010. Quotes for an Occupational Therapy student. I love quotes, and for the last 3 years I have had this one on my black board at home. This one helps refocus me when I am feeling not so good about things or have had a bad day or can not see the point in that assignment.no that never happened. Do what you have to do, so you can do what you need to do". (Denziel Washington among others). There are no pro...

Come to your Senses - Sensory Modulation within an Occupational Therapy practice. Wednesday, August 18, 2010. Unfortunately this has still left me confused. A conclusion by the authors did help though, and they have found that sensory modulation is a work in progress, still requiring a lot of research to be done. The brain is such a magnificent organism with hierarchal systems in place that we still do not fully understand its makeup. 8226; Tina Champagne's website www.ot-innovations.com. See not evil, H...

Recipe for Recovery: September 2010

http://occupationaltherapy10.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Sunday, September 5, 2010. Thank you for taking the time to read this blog, and exploring the importance of occupation in the recovery from mental illness. I hope that you have had the chance to think about what the word 'occupation' means and how it applies to your life and other people's, with mental illness or not. Through this blog, I have determined why occupation is important. In our life. It gives us structure. Through it. Additionally, the mere act of doing an occupation may give us enjoyment.

http://occupationaltherapy10.blogspot.com/2010/09/applying-occupation-to-community-mental.html

Friday, September 3, 2010. Applying Occupation to Community Mental Health. Mental Illness' is a very broad umbrella term, encasing a range of mental disorders such as bipolar disorder, depression, anxiety and schizophrenia. People who came here would attend the classes for different reason...

Recipe for Recovery: Cooking Activity!

http://occupationaltherapy10.blogspot.com/2010/09/cooking-activity.html

Sunday, September 5, 2010. Here is a recipe I used on placement, in a weekly cooking group with three clients. It's a recipe that does not take long, however, we'd also made another dish during the duration of the cooking activity. This recipe was chosen because it had been identified by the clients that it was something that they used to make before they were unwell and it was a dessert they all enjoyed. This made the activity meaningful. 189; tsp vanilla essence. 1 C Brown sugar. 189; C white sugar.

Recovery in Mental Health: What we've covered

http://recoveryinmentalhealth.blogspot.com/2010/09/what-weve-covered.html

Recovery in Mental Health. Sunday, September 5, 2010. Well, the time has come to wrap this blog up! So far we have covered what recovery and the Recovery Approach are. We have also covered aspects of the Recovery Approach being applied in an acute mental health setting, including the restrictive environment of the ward, hope, stigma, funding issues and medication. Finally, we have also looked at how OT's and other staff members can help give acute wards more of a recovery focus. I now feel, that if I get...

Recipe for Recovery: The Value of Activity Groups.

http://occupationaltherapy10.blogspot.com/2010/09/value-of-activity-groups.html

Saturday, September 4, 2010. The Value of Activity Groups. In this post, I shall explore the value that group activity has in recovery from mental illness. A big part of the activity groups which I took part in on my fieldwork placement was about the group work that went on, the setting would not have been the same without and group activity provided a valuable environment for the clients. Firstly, group activities are valuable because there is a theme of universality. 4) 325-40. Retrieved from. Ingredie...

Recycle, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, WHO CARES???: Reflection

http://blahblahblahwithjo.blogspot.com/2010/09/reflection.html

Recycle, Reduce, Reuse, Repair, WHO CARES? Sunday, September 5, 2010. As I began this blog I was unsure if the thoughts I had around sustainable activities were applicable to implementing into occupational therapy practice and for use in client treatments. That is to say will such activities meet the chosen needs of the individual or community, and will they achieve the social and environmental outcomes as envisaged by the client and/or the Occupational Therapist.
