perspectives: Changing Plans

http://www.ljperspectives.blogspot.com/2010/07/changing-plans.html

Wednesday, July 7, 2010. I like to think that I have a "go with the flow" kind of attitude. Today was a true test to that idea. Rather than taking you through my miserable attempts to narrate the day, I will present my day as a timeline. Jaisy, you may not want to read this. 5:30AM: Alarm goes off. I have 1 hour to wait for the water to heat up, brush my teeth with bottled water, take a cold shower, put my bug spray on and get down to breakfast at 6:30AM. 8:25AM; Find out what a Matata is (the public bus).

Monday, July 5, 2010. They were awesome, I may have to bring that trend to CA. After the "show" we were welcomed into their village of dung (well that's not what they called it, but it really was a village made of dung! We gathered in the center of the village where the cows and goats are kept for the night (more dung) and watched a few of the Maasai warriors light a fire with sticks. One of the guys in our group had the warrior "brand" his arm 3 times with the tip of the stick. It was nuts! Ill bet thos...

perspectives: You Want Us To Teach Now?!

http://www.ljperspectives.blogspot.com/2010/07/you-want-us-to-teach-now.html

Sunday, July 4, 2010. You Want Us To Teach Now? When we went to "check on" the kids Irene (the teacher) said "Oh, you are here! Please teach." and left us to teach the class! The three of us quickly found out that 12 of the children were deaf, five could hear and two understood English well enough to speak. Sheesh! Then I used my artistic talents to paint two bookshelves (and myself) bright blue. Tomorrow the safari bus is picking us up at 7AM and we are going on safari! More from the lap of luxury!

perspectives: Possibly Another Favorite Day!

http://www.ljperspectives.blogspot.com/2010/07/possibly-another-favorite-day.html

Thursday, July 1, 2010. Possibly Another Favorite Day! A bus picked us up and we drove to the school to pick up the children. Although the bus only had 70 seats, we decided that fitting 102 people (22 adults and 80 children) would be A-okay, and it was! The younger children sat on our laps and they sang songs for the majority of the hour long ride to the Elephant Orphanage. I thought baby elephants were the cutest thing BEFORE seeing them, but now I am in love! Final thoughts for the day:. Is not as easy...
