In general, Alpacas and Llamas are odorless animals. They are unique because they have three stomachs. Most people would describe them as curious, intelligent and friendly animals. The Alpaca is a member of the Camelid family which also includes the llama, vicuna, guanaco and camel. Native to the high Andes plateaus of Peru , Chile and Bolivia , they have been imported to the U.S. since 1984. Relax and reduce everyday stress. Llamas of Wier World: December 2011
http://llamasofwierworld.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html
Wednesday, December 14, 2011. Just call me The Mad Hatter. I have crazily decided to challenge myself to make a "hat-a-day" for 365 days. I'm on Day 31 of the challenge. I am addicted to knitting on the Knifty Knitter Hat Looms. I can whip out a hat in a short period of time - and the feeling of having "gotten something DONE" is extremely rewarding. So - you ask - what am I going to DO with all these hats? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Wier World Llamas and Alpacas. View my complete profile.

Llamas of Wier World: Riding into the sunset - not yet
http://llamasofwierworld.blogspot.com/2013/01/riding-into-sunset-not-yet.html
Friday, January 18, 2013. Riding into the sunset - not yet. And went to the ER in the middle of the night. A couple of days later I had a pacemaker. I went home from the hospital STILL gasping for air. Felt like I was drowning. Read the next blog for "the rest of the story.". Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Wier World Llamas and Alpacas. Sunday, April 17, 2011. Spinning Up Something GOOD! Hey friends. Sorry it's been a while since my last post. No one told me planning for a wedding would be time-consuming, serious work. I thought it was all daisies and dandilions. ; ). So, I'm spinning up some alpaca fleece for Julie from Wier World Llamas and Alpacas. This is my first chance to show what I've done so far! Llamas of Wier World: November 2011
http://llamasofwierworld.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Saturday, November 19, 2011. Challenge: A Hat a Day. Hmmm Maybe I've bitten off more than I can chew. I decided to challenge myself to this deal: I will make a hat every day for the next year. Yep. That's the plan. I like to stretch myself. I like to reach a goal. This may get really old - but as long as I "switch it up" a bit with different sizes/types of hats I think I can hang in there. And yes, some of the hats will be for sale on my Etsy site - www.grandmotherscomfort.etsy.com. Challenge: A Hat a Day.

Llamas of Wier World: Day 71 of the "hat a day" challenge
http://llamasofwierworld.blogspot.com/2012/01/day-71-of-hat-day-challenge.html
Tuesday, January 24, 2012. Day 71 of the "hat a day" challenge. So after not blogging for ages - here I am with two blogs in the same day! This is about day 71 of the "hat a day" challenge. So far so good - I'd like to report. I have managed to make a hat or headwarmer every day since Nov. 14, 2011. The variety of my hats amazes even me. Some are ski style; some have flowers; some are two or three colors; some are made from alpaca; some are made from llama; some are acrylic or wool. Subscribe To Our Blog!

Llamas of Wier World: August 2011
http://llamasofwierworld.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Wednesday, August 17, 2011. Why "3 Sisters' Workshops? When I was 61 years old I learned how to spin fiber into yarn, thanks to Tammy D. I learned how to make hats on the "knifty knitter" loom shortly after that, thanks to Amanda. I took a class at Hillcreek Fiber Studio and learned how to weave on a tri-loom, thanks to Carol Leigh. I can't believe it myself. If anyone would have told me about the road I would travel to learn these things - I would have laughed. And laughed. And laughed. Check out the op...

Llamas of Wier World: January 2011
http://llamasofwierworld.blogspot.com/2011_01_01_archive.html
Monday, January 31, 2011. There he is. Mighty Impressive. Certainly the most beautiful male llama we've ever owned. He was large and in charge. For years he was simply unable to "put up" with any other males being in HIS paddock, HIS territory. He would fight - literally to the death - given the opportunity. But he loved people. He was easily haltered and a dream on lead. He would strut around like a king - which on our farm, he was. Visitors to the farm would ask. He was ready to be part of the herd.

Llamas of Wier World: Goodbye Betty Ford 8n
http://llamasofwierworld.blogspot.com/2012/05/goodbye-betty-ford-8n.html
Monday, May 7, 2012. Goodbye Betty Ford 8n. She came into my life about 12 years ago. That scruffy little gal named Betty Ford - the 1950 Ford 8n tractor. Nevermind that she was an "old gal." She could still cut that pasture with the best of them. The llamas and alpacas would look up - and sometimes not even move away - because they didn't see Betty as any kind of threat. She was just another farm helper - making their grazing more delicious. On Saturday, May 5, 2012, she took her last breath.
