Wednesday, 14 December 2011. One reason why obedience matters for the Christian. Over in American Christian Reformed blog-land there’s been an ongoing debate recently about the differences between, and connections between, justification and sanctification (that is sanctification in the progressive sense rather than the positional sense – that’s a whole other debate! Up until now the main protagonists in this conversation have been Tullian Tchividjian. Murray’s most recent article. Murray quotes John 14:21.

Thought from the Day: November 2010
http://thoughtfromtheday.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Thursday, 18 November 2010. Where do you go to see God's glory? In church on Sunday mornings I’m preaching through the book of Ephesians, and so far I’ve found it absolutely fantastic. Not my sermons necessarily, but the things I’ve discovered about the glorious plan of God in this universe. Think about this statement:. The church, God’s people made one in Christ, is the place in which God primarily chooses to display his wisdom and glory (Ephesians 3:10, 21). Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A Bit About Me.

Thursday, 10 June 2010. Incarnational Living - What's that about then? I need your help. I have to write a dissertation. By the end of July. Do you know something, even going through my first year Greek textbook has proved more appealing during the last week than seriously knuckling down to writing 10,000 words in order to finish my theology degree. But write a dissertation I must! So then you ask, what will this dissertation be upon? Why did it happen? Why did the eternal Son of God take human flesh?

Thought from the Day: February 2013

Thursday, 14 February 2013. Orange Carnations, or Red Roses? What pleases the one you love? Let me tell you a story about buying flowers for my wife – it is Valentine’s Day after all! Not long after Lou and I first got together I remember that I bought her some flowers on one occasion. It’s no different with God. If we claim to love him, then we’ll find out what delights him – so that we can do it, so that we can walk worthy of him and please him. Been loved by the Lord and belong to the Lord, we should ...

Thursday, 14 April 2011. The tune to which I have set these lines can be found here. 1 I’ll sing of love divine,. My Saviour’s love to me,. For at the appointed time. He looked to Calvary. And set himself to take that path. That led to suffering God’s wrath. 2 Sweat drops of blood he bleeds. What pain did he foresee? With his Father he pleads;. 8220;Let this cup pass from me.”. Yet God’s own judgement he will face. For sinners in such need of grace. 3 Alone, deserted by. All those he called his friends.

Wednesday, 21 May 2014. God knows we arent perfect, so hell accept us in to heaven just as we are . wont he? How would you respond to that? Our friend's response was brilliant. This is the general gist of what she said:. If God accepts us in to heaven just the way we are, then heaven won't be a great place will it! We need Jesus to make us perfect for heaven. Monday, 19 May 2014. Of Governments and Covenants. Is Britain a nation in covenant with God? Of course it's true that our governing authorities are...

Thought from the Day: July 2013
http://thoughtfromtheday.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Saturday, 20 July 2013. 1 Peter and responding to ungodly authorities. Should we expect to suffer for being Christians? When we do suffer simply for being Christians, and for seeking to live righteously, has something gone wrong? Has God somehow lost control of the situation when his people, either individually, or en masse, suffer? Because surely if we’re living to please him, he’ll show his approval by giving us a pain free life, won’t he? Many of our English translations speak of servants in v18, but ...
