We have been super busy at Huntington-Oyster Bay Audubon this spring and summer with an assortment of events and activities, thanks to our fantastic volunteers, the Habitat Heroes:. Our Earth Day beach cleanup in April hosted our largest group ever- 93 volunteers! A good time was had by all and we were blessed with gorgeous weather.

Birdwatching news and bird photography from Transcaucasia - by Kai Gauger and Michael Heiß. Mittwoch, 18. April 2012. The last two weeks. Several bird species that are new for the spring counts had arrived. Some of them are new for the whole migration study, such as White-headed Duck. Green Warbler, Spotted Crake, Greater Sand Plover, White-tailed Lapwing, Caspian Plover. Or Lammergeier. A true highlight was a White-headed Yellow Wagtail. With all intergrades you can imagine. A flock of Citrine Wagtails.

Long-tailed Duck (Oldsquaw) ID Query ». Went back a few days later and the inlet was empty. Spent several hours with Grace Scalzo and all I could mange was a few Common Loon shots. As Grace said “this was the worst day at the inlet she could remember”. That’s the way birding and especially bird photography goes. As always, click on thumbnails for full size view.
