Dirt Dauber: September 2011
http://dirtdauberonline.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Making Dirt Look Good. Friday, September 30, 2011. OkI had done a blog for a year or two and then quit for a while. Started it back up again this month but once again have the feeling no one reads these things so wondering why I'm doing it. Planning on deleting this account/blog next week. Will be just one less thing to do. Don Hudnall (Dirt Dauber). Thursday, September 29, 2011. Did not need to use the pansies at all yet so have four flats to do something with. Time to get cleaned up a bit from all the ...

Dirt Dauber: Glaze Firing Finished
http://dirtdauberonline.blogspot.com/2011/09/glaze-firing-finished.html
Making Dirt Look Good. Friday, September 23, 2011. The first full round of "steampunk" style pottery is finished. Don't think I should call it Steampunk as it's not really metal nor powered by steam. I should just call it vintage. The last thing I have to do with them is add the brass buttons and any brass wiring to select pieces. Will do that today. Several other things to do today such as get the gallery agenda together for the meeting Sunday, call a few people to finalize meeting details, price the po...

Dirt Dauber: Glaze Disaster
http://dirtdauberonline.blogspot.com/2011/09/glaze-disaster.html
Making Dirt Look Good. Tuesday, September 13, 2011. Yesterday (Monday) finished smoothing out all my new steampunk looking pottery. Getting it ready for firing. Still have a few pieces to finish but overall in good shape. Cleaned studio pretty good. Sponged everything down and wet vacuumed the floor. Glaze room also cleaned so looking good now. The Matte Black was a bit watery so did not have high hopes for it yet. Went on kinda thin and fired out a little greenish where think. Where it was thick...The f...

Dirt Dauber: Gallery
http://dirtdauberonline.blogspot.com/2011/09/gallery.html
Making Dirt Look Good. Sunday, September 25, 2011. Spent five or six hours at the gallery today. First getting ready for the meeting by setting up a table, getting tea ready, putting out handouts. Then changing out my pottery on the display stands. That's when people started arriving for the meeting. Helped get stuff in and out, setup chairs etc. All the normal stuff for gallery change out and meeting. Don Hudnall (Dirt Dauber). Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Firing n Metal Work. Dirt Dauber: 1st full set of Steampunk pottery complete
http://dirtdauberonline.blogspot.com/2011/09/1st-full-set-of-steampunk-pottery.html
Making Dirt Look Good. Saturday, September 10, 2011. 1st full set of Steampunk pottery complete. Finally finished decorating the remaining pottery to give it a steampunk flair. Once again did a lot of sprigs, terra-sig, carving, etc. Takes a long time but the end result is very nice. Covered them in plastic to help even out the moisture content before letting it slowly dry. Dirt Dauber: Glaze Firing / New Works / Dinner
http://dirtdauberonline.blogspot.com/2011/09/glaze-firing-new-works-dinner.html
Making Dirt Look Good. Thursday, September 15, 2011. Glaze Firing / New Works / Dinner. Unloaded glass from the kiln first thing this morning. Reloaded with all the ware I glazed the other day and started the glaze firing. Moved the recycled clay around on the plaster bat a bit to get a bit more even drying. Maybe tomorrow I can wedge it up and put it in the old freezer to let it even out a bit. Got back to the studio and threw everything I had wedged up. Ended up with 28 various mug sized forms that...

Dirt Dauber: Firing n Metal Work
http://dirtdauberonline.blogspot.com/2011/09/firing-n-metal-work.html
Making Dirt Look Good. Tuesday, September 20, 2011. Firing n Metal Work. Loaded the kiln first thing this morning. Even though it's a glaze load I did a one hour preheat due to the extreme wetness of the pieces yesterday. Firing almost completed as I write this. Can't wait to see how they turn out. Keeping my fingers crossed. Bit slower day today due to allergies or something. Trying not to get a head cold but feels like it for some reason. Don Hudnall (Dirt Dauber). Dirt Dauber: Fusing Glass
http://dirtdauberonline.blogspot.com/2011/09/fusing-glass.html
Making Dirt Look Good. Wednesday, September 14, 2011. Re-kiln washed the shelves and all my new forms that I created for fusing glass bottles. Kiln washed about four dozen small forms (for 8oz soda bottles) and four dozen medium forms (for beer type bottles). Loaded the kiln with two dozen 8oz soda bottles and two wine bottles and started them fusing down. The form swill give them curved sides for a spoonrest look. Can unload them tomorrow morning. So now have a glaze load and a bisque load ready to go.
