LOADA BULLFINCH

Saturday, 18 July 2015. Danube . prt 1. I must sincerely apologize for not posting anything for the last six months (or, more to the point, for not birding much at all in that time). I have been busy growing a beard. The journey started in Furtwangen, in the Black Forest, Germany, with an eight kilometer walk up a hill in the pouring rain to reach the river's source. Aside from a Buzzard. Outside - at that very moment the waitress arrived with sausage and sauerkraut (what else? In much the same way that ...

LOADA BULLFINCH: May 2014

http://www.loadabullfinch.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html

Friday, 30 May 2014. Cavenham Heath and Lakenheath. But I think I got away with it. Sheeps up at Cavenham Heath. A lake 'n' heath. Peacock (butterfly - not bird). The Stone Curlews constituted a life-tick for me and I was getting excited about the possibility of more at Lakenheath. It is apparently a good place for Golden Oriole, Crane and Montague Harrier, none of which had I ever seen before. this could be great! Walking past the poplar forest, which may or may not be man made, I'll leave you to decide.

LOADA BULLFINCH: July 2014

http://www.loadabullfinch.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, 31 July 2014. A bit of Elmley Marshes: to give you an idea of scale, imagine the picture much much bigger. I wasn't expecting much in the way of birds, because of the time of year, but I figured it would make a difference from looking at car boot sales and chavs, which are the island's other main inhabitants. Avocets, Lapwings and Redshanks were in good numbers, as were Kestrels, Buzzards and Marsh Harriers. Buzz 'eard but hardly seen. Shellduck, Avocet and Ringed Plover. Some sort of darter.

LOADA BULLFINCH: October 2014

http://www.loadabullfinch.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html

Saturday, 18 October 2014. Following a few amazing days birding up in Norfolk. Put on its best lingerie, did its hair all nice and slapped on the make-up to insure I remained faithful and didn't go running off with other counties. It did this in the form of this Lapland Bunting. Great bird. great patch. Following my Shriketastic day in North Norfolk on Tuesday I decided to head down to Minsmere the next day. There had been a Little Crake. No chance of seeing the Little Crake here. I decided to stop for a...

Being Josh Selfe: July 2015

http://beingjoshselfe.blogspot.com/2015_07_01_archive.html

I AM JOSH SELFE. I am Josh Selfe. And intend to be so for some time to come, and this is the story about how that all works out for me. Friday, 31 July 2015. Confessions by Saint Augustine. The front cover depicts Augustine's bread balancing act. One of the enduring lessons I was taught as a child was actually by my primary school dinner ladies. It impacted me so much I still obey those weather beaten old dragons even now when eating a packed lunch. "Sandwiches must be eaten first! Monday, 20 July 2015.

Latterly mostly about travel. Friday, 24 July 2015. So what's been going on? Obviously there is never a dull moment at Chateau L, but there's not a lot to tell. This week however has been punctuated by two momentous twitches. Well, one momentous, one semi-pleasing. The first was a Green Sandpiper. On the deck. Although it was my 5th Green Sand. Please tell us it is not so? And if it is, please make sure to release some extra-special waders (or ducks) from your magic satchel before you go! If an instituti...

I AM JOSH SELFE. I am Josh Selfe. And intend to be so for some time to come, and this is the story about how that all works out for me. Wednesday, 27 August 2014. Finally caught up with enough of the. Last week to feel I could now start watching the T.V series. But she's enjoying it as much as I am. If it's done anything the Walking Dead. Has brought Zombies, and I mean proper Zombies - not all this warm bodies. Nonsense - to a broader audience, and that can't be a bad thing! In Breaking Bad - something ...

I AM JOSH SELFE. I am Josh Selfe. And intend to be so for some time to come, and this is the story about how that all works out for me. Wednesday, 19 August 2015. Having heard old people sing about them for years, I finally lay eyes on the White Cliffs of Dover. There are no bluebirds. This isn't surprising as they aren't native to the UK, so their migrating to Dover is most unlikely. They probably wouldn't be made very welcome anyway, knowing our current fear of migrants. And the ' Calais Migrant Crisis'.

Wanstead Birder: Update

http://www.wansteadbirder.com/2015/07/update.html

Latterly mostly about travel. Sunday, 5 July 2015. A brief summary of the last month would be:. A quick trip to Poland to find Nutcracker. Geting camera fixed after trip to Poland. Desperate processing of USA photos. Doing not a lot at home. Working like a dog (a sad constant). In connection with the above, being uncomfortably hot on the tube. The birding has been dull of course, and whilst I did manage to sneak out for the long-staying Hudsonian Whimbrel. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). 115 - - -.
