Soap Dance: May 2010
http://soapcauldron.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 27, 2010. Terry Naturally Farmer's Market. I started doing the market at Terry Naturally. Two weeks ago. I have such a good feeling about this market! I bought perennial plants today from Bill. He has the healthiest plants I have seen and is very knowledgeable. I bought a Joe's Pye Weed. And a Prairie Blazing Star. He threw in another one - I think he said it was a purple coneflower. I can't wait until tomorrow so I can plant them! His website is Stone Silo Prairie Garden. I also wanted to ...

Wednesday, September 15, 2010. Castor Oil Properties in Soap. Castor Oil in Soap. I thought it would be interesting to write about some of the oils I use in my soap. After making soap for over 10 years I have found that different oils contribute different qualities. Castor oil is derived from the seed of the plant. The castor plant is native to the southeastern Mediterranean basin, East Africa and India. India is the largest producer of castor oil followed by China and Brazil. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Soap Dance: June 2008
http://soapcauldron.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 20, 2008. On Monday I took the cat in to see Dave. It was pretty bad news - Dave said the eye would have to be removed. Pyewacket had either gotten into a fight or his eye had definitely been exposed to something invasive. The options were to have the surgery to remove the eye or put Pyewacket to sleep. Seeing as money is no object to me (yeah, right! The moral of the story is: If you have a cat - do not let him outside! I just hope my cat, Pyewacket, will be okay! Tuesday, June 17, 2008.

Soap Dance: Menasha Market
http://soapcauldron.blogspot.com/2010/07/menasha-market.html
Friday, July 9, 2010. The Menasha Farm Market is a great place to be on a Thursday afternoon! The atmosphere is relaxed and the vendors are terrific. My soap business is not only about selling soap but, more importantly, the relationships that you form with the other vendors. Panhia sells right next to me. She has 10 children - 6 girls and 4 boys! She is so tiny you would never beleive that she has 10 children! Here are some pictures of my set-up at the market:. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Soap Dance: August 2010

Wednesday, August 4, 2010. Why I Oppose the Safe Cosmetics Act. When the Safe Cosmetics Act first came out, I was definitely in agreement with it. Who would not be in favor of safe cosmetics? They have a really nice video featuring Annie Leonard - who reminds me of a modern-day June Cleaver. Who wouldn't believe June Cleaver? However, just like June Cleaver is a fictional Hollywood character, this bill is also filled with fiction. And, "What is in it for them? Of course I would need to get my product tes...

Root and Rock: "Dangerous Knowledge."
http://rootandrock.blogspot.com/2011/11/dangerous-knowledge.html
Friday, November 18, 2011. The Necronomicon - Archetype of Dangerous Knowledge. I do my best not to shy away from any topic here. I feel that shying away from something in a medium as non-confrontational and hopefully tone-neutral as a blog means that I can't discuss it calmly and I don't like that idea one whit. I've discussed insanity. And a myriad of other stickiness hidden in the bowels of my blog. And I'll be adding this one to the heap. When I first started getting interested in woo-woo things, it ...

Craftiness For Beginners: October 2012
http://www.craftinessforbeginners.com/2012_10_01_archive.html
Monday, October 29, 2012. Earlier this week I got a little crafty and made a little pennant for Celeste's door, so thought I'd do a little tutorial. Some wooden dowels - these can be found at your local hardware store. Any scraps of material - around 50 cms x 30cms works well. A sewing machine or needle and thread. Some material trimming like ric rac. Felt and some embroidery thread. These pennants can really be made in any size you choose, its all up to you! Step 7. Attach a pretty length or ribbon ...

Soap Dance: August 2008
http://soapcauldron.blogspot.com/2008_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 25, 2008. Another idea I've had rolling around my head is a Soap Sampler. I thought it woud be a good idea to offer a "Sampler Pack" that would include little 1-ounce sizes of my soaps. I made an "Herbal and Earthy" one and a "Fruit and Floral" one. My brother was over when I was putting these together. First he said, "Wow, are you going to charge $12.95 for that? Anyway, I think they turned out really cool! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
