Dog Eat Cat: Being Bourdain: Hong Kong Plaza in Rowland Heights
http://smokeydoke-dogeatcat.blogspot.com/2009/09/being-bourdain-hong-kong-plaza-in.html
Thursday, September 17, 2009. Being Bourdain: Hong Kong Plaza in Rowland Heights. If you follow my Twitter, you know I detest Anthony Bourdain, but I'm jealous too. He gets to travel all over the world and try different cuisines, he has the best job in the world! Unfortunately I don't have the finances to travel but I'm blessed to live in the melting pot of the world. I'm going to do a monthly post called "Being Bourdain" where I travel to unexplored ethnic epicenters and sample local cuisines. My last s...

Dog Eat Cat: Hatfield's
http://smokeydoke-dogeatcat.blogspot.com/2009/04/hatfields.html
Tuesday, April 14, 2009. Hatfield's is the real McCoy, get it? Ha Anyways, it was nice to have a fine dining establishment live up to its hype. I loved my dinner at Hatfield's and would love to go again. Deviled quail eggs and some type of soup. The quail eggs were excellent, there was some kind of smoky meat in it. I got the pre-fixe menu which included:. Farm House Salad - didn't care too much for it, but it was very fresh. I do not like endives. Slow Roasted Pork with yam puree. May 11, 2009 at 8:06 PM.

Dog Eat Cat: Edison Bar: Travel Back to the 1920's In Style

Tuesday, June 9, 2009. Edison Bar: Travel Back to the 1920's In Style. This place is amazing. It’s located in what used to be the old Edison Building, hence the name. The old generators are still there. Below are some pics I've taken with the different groups I've gone with to the Edison. It's a great place to take a group after work. Seating is free until 7pm, then there's a minimum purchase per person. The brass flower is my fav! September 11, 2009 at 2:31 PM. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Dog Eat Cat: Sambalatte on Jones: Now you can steampunk your coffee!
http://smokeydoke-dogeatcat.blogspot.com/2014/02/sambalatte-on-jones-now-you-can.html
Thursday, February 20, 2014. Sambalatte on Jones: Now you can steampunk your coffee! Being a woman of leisure has its challenges. Such as, now what am I going to do for forty hours a week? First world problems, I know, I know. Well, I decided a good way to pass the time was to join a traveling book club. Wow, how esoteric, you say? Not really, I have ulterior motives. Now I have an excuse to go to quaint coffee houses and guiltlessly drink and eat the night away. Picture from Las Vegas Review Journal.

Dog Eat Cat: Jitlada: Crowning Gem in Thai Town
http://smokeydoke-dogeatcat.blogspot.com/2009/05/jitlada-crowning-gem-in-thai-town.html
Tuesday, May 19, 2009. Jitlada: Crowning Gem in Thai Town. Who doesn't love Jitlada? Jitlada is packed. It's a small, family-run, hole-in-the-wall place, but with all the fabulous press its been getting, from Jonathan Gold to Gourmet magazine, everyone and their uncle wants to come here. Be prepared for subpar service, and long waits. It'll be worth it. Here's my first warning: Southern Thai food is not for everyone! Kaeng khew-wan khài "Mang-kon" : green curry with egg-yolk-stuffed fish balls - This cur...

Dog Eat Cat: Asia De Cuba: Not Asian, Very Californian
http://smokeydoke-dogeatcat.blogspot.com/2009/12/asia-de-cuba-not-asian-very-californian.html
Wednesday, December 16, 2009. Asia De Cuba: Not Asian, Very Californian. I really admire people who can blog once a week. Kudos. My love to eat should match my love to write. Two months to produce a post isn't too bad? Talk about celeb dining on a pleb budget. The next two entrees were utterly forgettable and better versions could be found at Black Angus. They were the Grilled Strip Steak with calabaza melon slaw in citrus ginger soy and Cuban BBQ Chicken, served with coconut sticky rice, tamarind sa...

Friday, September 11, 2009. Elite Restaurant: Mikey Likes It! Shark Fin and Red Clam Dumpling, Almond Covered Shrimp, along with other dim sum dishes Picture from LA Times. The Craving Asian Food crew. And I hit Elite Restaurant a few weeks ago in search of LA's best dim sum and we were not disappointed. The food was delicious and the service was doting, although there was a bit of a language barrier. Here's a rundown of the food we ordered:. Baked Scallop and Turnip Cake. Shark Fin and Red Clam Dumpling.

Dog Eat Cat: Java Spice: Indonesia Food in Rowland Heights
http://smokeydoke-dogeatcat.blogspot.com/2009/08/java-spice-indonesia-food-in-rowland.html
Tuesday, August 18, 2009. Java Spice: Indonesia Food in Rowland Heights. Indonesian cuisine reflects the vast variety of people that live on the 6,000 populated islands that make up Indonesia. There is probably not a single "Indonesian" cuisine, but rather, a diversity of regional cuisines influenced by local Indonesian culture and foreign influences. The meal started with a drink called Es Teler. It's made of avocados, jack fruit, young coconut and spiced condensed milk. It was delicious! The Mie Ayan B...

Dog Eat Cat: Brass Monkey, That Food is Funky
http://smokeydoke-dogeatcat.blogspot.com/2009/09/brass-monkey-that-food-is-funky.html
Wednesday, September 9, 2009. Brass Monkey, That Food is Funky. I know people that don't come to Brass Monkey because they ordered the food and it was horrible. What a shame. The Brass Monkey is so much fun. But the food is horrible. Their drinks are much better. The Golden Monkey, a delicious concoction of Absolut Mandrin Grand Marnier, cranberry juice and orange juice, is a winner. My companions have raved about the Evil Monkey and the Monkey Junk. Their specialty drinks are pricey, but fun...Hong Kong...
