This installation follows an older technique that I don't use much anymore but in this case the model already has a Richmond Controls lighting unit installed and the goal is to continue to use it being controlled by the DCC decoder. The kapton tape was coming into contact with a rotating part of the motor as indicated by the arrow on both sides preventing the motor from turning freely.
