About Linux distributions

As you might have noticed, I referer to Redhat Linux. Several places on this website. This is not. Because I dislike or ignore other Linux (or GNU/Linux. If you prefer) distributions, like Debian. I mention RedHat because that is what I use, and have used since I started with RedHat Linux 3.0.3 (Picasso). When what you use is good enough (excellent, in fact), you may have little incentive to use something related but slightly different (I know I have very little), so today I use RedHat based (Fedora).

I run MacOS X. On a 233 MHz Powerbook G3. Wallstreet) with 320 mb ram. It's a bit sluggish, but I guess a faster processor would help with that. On it, but it has a danish keyboard, and the default keyboard map in XFree doesn't fit it at all. So, I've done a quick hack, on a Powerbook .Xmodmap I found somewhere on the net. Gigabit ethernet over copper with a crossover cable (1000baseT). You may have experienced not being able to connect two 1000baseT NICs or two 1000baseT switch interfaces, using a normal crossed ethernet cable. The reason you can't do this, is that 1000baseT use all four wire pairs available in a Cat5 cable, whereas 100baseTX only uses two wire pairs. Because of this, the cable pinout is different. Some smart 1000baseT interfaces (like the ones in Apple's G4. But that is not the case for all interfaces.
