Thursday, January 25, 2007. 1 I would classify the french horn as a brass instrument. 2 There are 6 players in the CSO and their names are Elizabeth Freimuth, Thomas Sherwood, Gene Berger, Duane Dugger, Robert Schauer, and Charles Bell. 3 The player buzzs thier lips while blowing air through a cup or funnel shaped mouthpiece while playing the French Horn. 5 You change the length of the French Horn by toggleing with the valves. 8 The French Horn uses a bass clef.

Where the pitch is varied by opening or closing holes in the body of the instrument. The woodwind instruments where origianlly made from wood. I'm Not Kool Enough! Thursday, November 30, 2006. 1 You would classify the bassoon in the woodwind family. 2 There are three bassoon players in the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. They are William Winstead, Hugh Michie, and Martin James. 3 Two types of bassons are the bassoon and the contrabassoon. 4 It plays lower sounds than other woodwind instruments. So it plays low notes. 5 Yes one person can easily play both kinds of bassoons. 6 They would have to learn the Bass. 7 Usually they do not play alone.

Thursday, February 08, 2007. 1 The trumpet is a brass instrument. 2 There are 2 players in the CSO and their names are Philip Collins and Steven Pride. 3 The player closes thier lips tight to play the trumpet. 4 The trumpet has about 6.5 feet of tubing. 5 The player uses valves to change the length. 6 The trumpet would sound deeper if it had more tubing. 7 The valve is the thing you press to create different pitches. It is located in the middle of the trumpet.

Does anyone have a spoon i can borrow? Thursday, October 26, 2006. The Flute and Piccolo. Flute- It is an instrument of the woodwind family. It produces sound from the flow of air against an edg. E, not a reed. Early flutes were carved from bone. It is about 2 feet in length It looks like a narrow tube with a row of holes covered by keys along one side. The player blows air across the small hole in the mouthpiece to produce a sound that can be either soft and mellow or high and piercing.
