hallie jo photography: April 2015

Thursday, April 23, 2015. My first-ever newborn photo shoot was (in my own personal opinion, anyway) a success! Little Mr. Asa Isaac was not altogether delighted to have his portrait taken at 10 days old, but put a baby in the frame and how can it not turn out cute? Fortunately his older brother was more than happy to get pictures with his new buddy. :). Posted by Hallie Jo. Monday, April 20, 2015. The woman saw that the tree was good for food. And that it was a delight to the eyes). Posted by Hallie Jo.

Friday, June 19, 2015. There's one word I say more than any other, and it's Sorry. And I just keep saying Sorry, praying that He takes me back every time, because I want to be alive when I see His face. Reflections on Numbers 13 and 14. Posted by Hallie Jo. Tuesday, June 16, 2015. Friday, January 23, 2015. The God of bethel. I have decided to read through the Bible again this year. As I walk through the pages of Genesis with the patriarchs it’s like a step back to when I first went to Bible school, when I first realized that every page of the Bible was written. That, though written thousands of years ago to people I will only meet in eternity, every story and every detail is included by the Holy Spirit. And whatever the man called a living creature, that was its name. Then she cal...

Thursday, September 25, 2014. How to ruin your walk with God (in five easy steps). Now the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said to the woman, “Indeed, has God said, ‘You shall not eat from any tree of the garden’? 8221; He said, “I heard the sound of you in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; so I hid myself.” And He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten from the tree of which I commanded you not to eat? Step one: be ...

Wednesday, July 22, 2015. July, a list. Too much pasta. it’s the answer to everything when you’re home alone and don’t want to cook. Summertime… darker skin, lighter hair, fresh berries and green beans every day. Well, I was reading. The Man of Lawlessness. By David Reagan. but I finished it (one of like two books I’ve read all the way to the end this year). so now I’m just reading my Bible… 1 Peter 1 and 2 particularly lately. So much Twenty One Pilots music. new and old. my current favorite is. All pho...

hallie jo photography: on weakness and trust

Sunday, August 9, 2015. On weakness and trust. Sometimes… at night… I think too much. The fall of the dark curtain seems a veritable power switch for my brain, and all of a sudden I might be analyzing end times events or manufacturing the sounds of a break-in or remembering, vividly, near-forgotten scenes from a long-ago childhood. Me and my sister Hannah, with baby Lenny and another kitten we only had for a little while before it died. Last night, at 12:19 AM, it was grief that came to mind. The odd mix...

hallie jo photography: November 2014
http://halliejophotography.blogspot.com/2014_11_01_archive.html
Tuesday, November 18, 2014. I have been told that I am a writer. I started writing stories when I was ten years old—about the same time I started journaling every day, jotting down silly details about a very ordinary ten-year-old life. I’m twenty now, and every day of the past ten years has been recorded by my pen. I was quite wrong. On Sunday, November 9, I sat in church listening to a sermon about grace. For the first few minutes I let my mind wander—. I know grace,. I don’t need to hear this. And the ...

hallie jo photography: May 2015
http://halliejophotography.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 27, 2015. So awhile ago, I posted about my struggle with caring so much about what people think. I called it Hypersensitivity then… but today I’m going to call it by its real name: Pride. What is the remedy? Is there any three-step process in Scripture to eradicate this poison? To depend on Self to to reverse self-dependence is utterly ridiculous. So why is that the first place I turn when I feel convicted of this sin? Grace, by its very nature, demands humility. Grace knows that witho...
