Tuesday, January 3, 2012. The Coffee House Lesson. Sitting at one of my favorite coffee shops a couple of weeks ago, I observed a sad phenomenon that marks our culture. First, though, I must tell you that. I love coffee shops! Sights, smells, sounds, flavor, and texture all come together to create an environment that welcomes almost anyone. Where else can you put an overstuffed electric-blue couch next to a pair of Danish modern leather chairs? There is an air of readiness to police officers, their heads...

Finally, life is looking up and I'm feeling more positive. So, back to business! Did you know or take advantage of restaurant week a couple weeks ago? I almost missed it. (What? Each meal is a surprise. And let me tell you, each was phenomenal. Tuesday, May 17, 2011. What was the last thing you ate for dessert? Heat butter in...

What I ate today....: Searing Scallops
http://keepitinthekitchen.blogspot.com/2011/04/searing-scallops.html
What I ate today. Subscribe To Keep it in the Kitchen Blog. Wednesday, April 20, 2011. Have you ever tried to pan-sear scallops? Or are they one of those foods you just leave to the professionals? I am here to show you that it's possible to pan-sear the perfect scallop at home. Start with approximately 6 fresh scallops that are a decent size. Rinse and dry the scallops - this helps to eliminate any water draining from the scallop into the pan when cooking. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Tuesday, October 8, 2013. That’s what bothers me. Politics kills people’s integrity. People I care about. People who I otherwise like and trust. Friends that I like. I care about them. I don’t care about their politics. I have friends on both sides. Their politics are not a friendship test to me. I could drop my wallet and know they’d give it back with no money missing. I know I could leave my child with them and they’d keep her safe. Trust their integrity in many things. Why do Democrats excoriate the R...

Thursday, August 21, 2014. Is it possible that Officer Darren Wilson was a great police officer who made a mistake AND Michael Brown was an innocent guy in the wrong place at the wrong time? Is it possible that Officer Wilson was a flaming racist and made his choices based on that AND that Michael Brown was a violent thug who made his choices based on that? Is it possible that Michael Brown was a pretty good kid who made some really dumb choices in the last day of his life? Is it possible that the fact t...

What I ate today. Subscribe To Keep it in the Kitchen Blog. Thursday, October 21, 2010. When I cook asparagus, and I am guessing when you do too, you start by first washing them, then cutting off the bottom of the stems. After cooking them (whether it's grilling, roasting or sauteing), you may notice that there is always a small area near the bottom stem portion that is much more chewy and stringy in texture, not crunchy like the rest of the tip. What I ate today. Subscribe To Keep it in the Kitchen Blog. Thursday, April 21, 2011. Lush Burger in North Scottsdale. I went to Lush Burger. In North Scottsdale for lunch today. It's located just north of the 101 freeway on Pima road in the AJ's shopping center. It was delicious! My friends ordered the Turkey Cobb Burger and the Baby Lush Burger Trio. The Turkey Cobb, standing about three to four inches high, was stacked with a turkey burger, blue cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato on a whole wheat b...

Wednesday, December 14, 2011. We stood as a small group in a parking garage outside of the lecture hall, getting ready to head off for discussion groups. 14 teenagers, a close female friend as an adult sponsor and myself. In moments, I was going to have my heart broken in a way I could never have anticipated, but I didn’t know it yet. I had the kids stand in a circle while I was trying to gather my thoughts on what to say. It had been a powerful session that had taught me something. Not even discussing m...
